Following my 10 week review I am much happier with the ix after 25 weeks.
To date, the car has gone back to bmw 3 times (2 punctures and one cracked windscreen), but this is more a mix of bad luck than faulty engineering.
The issues with idrive8 have now died down, but still think the user experience is more clunky than its predecessors, additionally, the climate being integrated with this is perhaps too much and think defaulting to a few more buttons would be more beneficial to the user experience.
Covered 5,000 miles now and realise There is no comparison between SAV/SUV’s generally and a 5 series.
The 5 series stuck to the road like glue especially considering it’s size, the ix 40 is a bit softer and wallows more, but this is no bad thing as the ride is more supple and the dogs certainly appreciate a slower change in direction
The range is now 220-240 miles per charge, and this reflects my driving style as I tend to drive around 75 on the motorway and with the availability of chargers (in the Uk) this is not a problem, in fact charging is a breeze. I have a caffeine dependency issue now as a result of Instavolt residing near McDonald’s and Costa mostly, but can live with that…
Overall pleased and whilst I only selected a few options don’t feel I am missing much….
