Regarding a sound from A/C system, I need your observations and comments.

When I start the A/C, apart from the air fan sound, I also hear a very low and continuous sound in background. Of course this is more hearable when air fan is low. It is like a ups sound but in a low level. It goes away after some time after shutting off the A/C.

I don’t remember if I heard this in tests, maybe I didn’t pay much attention at that time. Is it same for anybody else? Can it be the heat pump?

Cabin is so quiet so we can hear all the details. :) That is also a disadvantage in a way. :)

Hi,
I would say that both my current iX and the one i drove prior purchase did the same. There is a low volume "humming" that i can recognize as the sound of a compressor.
In winter it heats and in summer it will cool, so i think the sound will be there most of the time.
Interpritation of sound is very much a personal thing, but from how you describe it its as it should be.

Thank you for your comments. It is exactly what I mean, a humming sound, which is more clear when AC is off, until sound goes away with another sound like a fuse.

I am wondering if that humming sound remains audible while playing slow music? Does that A/C sound compel you to increase the volume of the audio?
It is not a high humming sound, low and in the background. And goes away after around 1 minute after shutting off the AC. You cannot hear it during music, or even talking with anybody else in the car.

Oh! If the sound is that negligible, it's probably harmless and expected as @Rickardg said that the noise comes from his cars too. Also, when you shut down the A/C, probably the system takes a while to turn off properly to avoid any damage to the machine. That's why the noise goes away after one minute. Isn't it so?

Exactly.

Driving a super silent car is a different experience. iX is my first EV, that is why it takes some time to get used to these things. :)

To be honest, after some time, I am not even “hearing” that sound, used to it :)
