Active Steering (rear wheel) on IX 50 Msport

I am really enjoying my IX, but one thing that is bothering me is that I'm not sure I have active steering. On full lock I can't see the rear wheels have changed angle (I know its only degrees).

Is there any indication on the car that active steering is present/working?

Check the turning circle vs expectation.

You should spin round in a much smaller space than you expect.

That's exactly what made me think it might not be working.

I think it is working, I am just used to something a lot shorter! :(
I find it's most obvious reverse parking.
Takes about 10 goes to get it in line with the kerb, as you go full lock to pull in the front the back starts heading out.
Could just be my bad driving, but I'm blaming the car 😂

This is definitely correct also as per my experiences :)

It is really a big challenge to have a short margin and to align kerb with active steering during reverse parallel parking.
I've realised what's been causing me concern, but I think it was a sub-conscious 'nag' so I couldn't put my finger on it...

Basically, I have to reverse into my drive. I pull up, put the car into reverse on full lock, and the display shows the guidelines to where the car is going to go.

Without altering the steering wheel, the car understeers and ends way over from the initial guidelines.

Anyone else have the same issue, it may be a software glitch or camera alinement.....
Yes

Yes that definitely happens. Its a massive difference. On lock the guidelines are a joke.

Hi,
You probably don't have active steering. I have it and when you turn the front steering wheel it is VERY noticeable - Even from looking out your side view mirrors down at the wheels.
I mean if you don’t know look at your window sticker because I want to know if I paid for it and didn’t get it

so what package has active steering? Dynamic Hsndling?

Yes part of the dynamic handling package (active steering and air suspension)

If you don't have air suspension (there's a button on your center console if you otherwise don't know), then you don't have IAS.

Open the window.
Look at the rear wheel while turning your steering from left to right.
Then you can see the rear wheel is moving.

It’s easy to see. With the car standing still, just have someone turn the steering wheel while you watch. You will be able to see the rear wheels turning in the opposite direction that the front wheels are turning. If you don’t see that happening, the iX does not have active steering.

JPFlorida, I wonder whether you could take a picture of what the rear wheels look like when they are turned.

I have the air suspension but can't see any change in the direction the rear wheels are pointing even on a tight turn (going slowly in parking lot, getting out to check, trying again, etc.).

I wonder whether this is one of those features where they ran short on parts or control chips and had to skip it on some units. IAS was on the build sheet but not the window sticker. But other stuff, also on the build sheet but not on the window sticker, is definitely present--so I'm still left wondering.

Thanks!

When using snow chains you turn off rear wheel steering.....so it could be turned off.
