I realize this is a long shot, but I was able to reserve a client cancelled iX order near me in Colorado. While not exactly the color I want, the vehicle is equipped with everything I would want if I custom ordered myself, except it does not have Active Driving Assistant Pro.

I have experience with other car manufacturers that will allow you to add additional functionality, at a cost of course, post production/purchase. However, I am curious if this is something that BMW does, since I would like to enable the Active Driving functionality on the vehicle.

Does anyone know if the car needs additional hardware to operate the Active Driving funcitonality? I really don't want to wait 9 months to a year to order the perfectly spec'ed iX, so wanted to check if anyone has investigated this.

Thanks in advance

Although I haven’t tried it myself, I think you can. I was wondering if you already checked this link?

https://www.bmwofreading.com/build-your-own-bmw-model/

I appreciate your response, but that link provides directions on how to build a new car. I am purchasing an already built car that was just dropped off on the west coast for delivery to Colorado in the next ten days.

I would like to understand if there are options to add functionality on an already built vehicle.

Spoke with my dealer today, and they said as of now, there is no way to add the drivers assistance professional if the iX did not come with it.
Driving assistant professional has different and more HW´s compared to Plus so it wont be possible to retrofit.
However
Parking assistant professional have the same HW as plus, so there might be a possibility in the future to add the professional functionality by purchase in connected drive store.

Oh! I am so sorry I misunderstood your question. Let's see what some more experienced people have to say about it.

Without driving assistant PRO you are at least missing the short range radars, so its not a SW activation unfortunately.
On previous BMW models it was possible to retrofit hardware and basically add any functionality that was missing but the new models have a different approach for programming where BMW backend creates the files needed for a certain car. At this point i would say that there is no chance to retrofit anything to these cars.
