Hello

complete newbie here. We recently took possession of a beautiful iX40

I cannot seem to figure out how to find or add charging stations to my maps.

According to the inter webs if I go to maps, but I’m not getting the current route guidance.

I also can’t seem to search for charging stations using the MyBMW app.

Any ideas on where I’m going wrong?

Thanks

I have noticed that since the latest software I no longer get suggested charging stops if the destination is further than the available range. On the dealer demo car that has not been updated it still suggests to add a charging stop. Was not sure if it was just me doing something stupid or if its an issue with the new software but if you are also having the same experience then perhaps its a bug or BMW has lost its mind and removed a basic function all EVs should have :D

With that said if you do not have a route set you should still be able to tap on the blue plug icon in the map view to see a list of stations nearby however filtering them appears to not be possible which is also frustrating. Be interesting to see if the issue is only affecting some regions or all ?

And congratulations on the purchase they truly are an amazing vehicle.

Thanks BrendanC for responding. It seems a bit silly not to have this fundamental function.
We're about to do our first major drive and it would be really helpful knowing when a charging station is coming up.

I might give my dealership a ring tomorrow and see what they suggest. It's a beautiful car and I am stil very much getting my head round it.

Glad it's not me being dumb!

You should be able to search directly for Charging stations and filter according to kW and who runs them (Best use Ionity at your discounted 26p rate)
On the right of the Navigation screen under sugestions should be charging stations you start there. You just set as a destination - the car will then pre-condition the battery for rapid cahrging though you get no message. You also see the status of chargers red in use green free at least with Ionity

If you set a destination well past your range you will gat an option to select a charging station route and after its computed it you shoul;d get something like this

Yep that is exactly what the dealer demo car does, however mine does not display a list of possible charging stations along the route. Out of interest what software version are you on ?

It is not done automatically you should get an option to use the standard route or or a charging route when you select a destination greater than your available range, if the destination is within range you dont get it

Ok so just tested again set a route 800km away no option to choose between charging route or normal just sets route guidance like it would in an ice car. Very strange.
Software version reports as: 07/2022.33
