After two months there are still things to discover

Just shy of 2 months of ownership and I'm finally comfortable letting the iX get below 20% state of charge and no longer feel a need to charge it for the full 30 minutes of free charging at Electrify America.

Also discovered two new things.

You can press the scroll wheel in the center console than mute the sound system

The Passenger mirror lowers when in reverse so you can see the rear tires.

I guess I could have read the manual...

Still loving the car, wife likes it too but said it is bigger than she wants to drive every day, but she did take it to the store the other day so maybe it will grow on her.

It's great to hear that you're becoming more comfortable with your BMW iX and discovering new features along the way. The ability to let the battery level go below 20% without feeling the need to immediately charge is a positive sign of growing confidence in the vehicle's range and performance.

Discovering the mute function for the sound system by pressing the scroll wheel on the center console and the automatic lowering of the passenger mirror in reverse are handy features that can enhance your driving experience. It's always interesting to find these hidden gems in a car's functionality.

It's understandable that the size of the iX may take some getting used to, especially if it's larger than what your wife prefers for everyday driving. However, her willingness to take it to the store shows that she's open to giving it a chance, and who knows, it might indeed grow on her over time.

that's great to hear. Does anyone know if there's a way to lower the driver side mirror in reverse, other than manually lowering from the controls? I equally use it when parking in reverse, I'm not sure why it's not a feature?

Sorry, what do you mean the ability to let the batter level go below 20%? It's recommended you don't go below 20% but that's same for all EVs?

Being that this was our first EV, I had some anxiety of the SOC going from 25 or 30% to 5 or 10% all of a sudden, for the first few weeks I was only letting it get to 50% SOC before I charged, then I started going to 40% and then 30% and finally down to 20%, when charging I would always charge the full 30 minutes at Electrify America just to make sure I had enough range.
The lowest I've let it get is 18% and only because that's what it took to get the the chargers that are actually working most of the time.
