So I've got a VIN number now and my order status code is '150 Spec Locked ready for Body Shop'

Potentially looking at a September delivery.

Any other Australians with orders have details ?

What did you order and when was it?
I ordered on 7th of Jan 22, IX50, and still no update, even build date!!!
also, how could you find the order status? I thought this is just available in the US. Is it new?

Did you try contacting the company or the dealer? You can also ask them the process of tracking your order online.

I did ask last week, but all I was advised, was nothing than soon to be notified!!
Tracking online is when we have at least VIN in Australia. I doubt my Garage works here( just in the US ). I hate relying on the dealers to get updates.
If you are aware of any online platform, I appreciate you share it with me.

I checked online and yes, you are correct about the VIN requirement to track car status. Did you talk to the dealer or the customer care of BMW itself? If you have order number, you can email them and request for an update.

If they don't reply, you can ask about the status on Twitter. However, that would be an extreme step, similar to initiating a cold war. LOL.

Same with me, ordered IX50, Nov 2021, not build date confirmed, spoke to dealer 2 weeks ago and he mentioned production date to be confirmed in July 2022.

No online platform here in Australia. There's no tracking or anything unfortunately.

I ordered at iX40 sport. I spoke to the dealer last week and he gave me VIN # and said production status was 150 - 'spec'd and locked in for body shop'. He said build date was scheduled for 12/06/22.

Dealers can access 'Snoop' in Australia. Its a dealer platform for new car orders where they can track them.

I did hear from the dealer in Brisbane that the iX50's have a longer lead time than the 40's. No idea why ..

I reckon because our IX50s here come fully loaded, there are much more microchips needed to meet the demand, and as readily IX40 available, they try to direct IX50s to US, as of lower spec with a lot of unavailable options. They don’t have Ix40 for order available there.

Which state are you in?
when I ordered, it was just one IX50 order in front of me ( he preordered in June ), as per the dealer, but couple of weeks ago, he said I m first in the queue. we have just 2 dealers in Adelaide, and already they ve delivered many IX40s. Right now one sitting in one of their showroom, they are happy to sell it.

I talked to my dealer and he said that I ve been allocated a build date as of yesterday. I ordered on 7th of Jan, IX50. Possibly best to talk to your dealer again as it seems allocations are happening for the early adapters.

@Saman - I am in Melbourne Victoria, spoke to the dealer (BMW dealership, Southbank) and there are no confirmed build dates as yet. I ordered mine in Nov'21 not sure what is my position in the queue :)

@Saman - Congratulations! what build date you got allocated? Also are you in Adelaide?

He told me week 29, but when I asked him to send me an email for proof, he said he would confirm that with me. Since Thursday, I am waiting for his email showing the actual build date.
I am in Adelaide. I believe I was second in the queue but 3 weeks ago I became the first.
Likely there are more demands in Victoria, so dates are not reflecting true allocations.
As soon as he sends me the proof, I ll update you.

Get your VIN number from him and check it out here BMW VIN Number Check mine is showing up here, although the production date doesn't have anything. I've been told June 12th so will check it again to see if it shows a date around then.

I am under impression that the VIN is allocated just before the car goes to production not much earlier!!
I love to have it though.
I ll try the dealer this week again.

@Browchay - Lucky you, that you got the VIN number. I second @Saman re: VIN info as I don't think my dealer would have that, but its worth the try. What state are you in? Perhaps I could push the dealer to get the VIN number considering other states in Australia are getting them (VIN) :)
