I did this and it started workingI read somewhere you need to place it in the tinted area near the top.
I concurI read somewhere you need to place it in the tinted area near the top.
I have a sticker. It started working once I placed it in the tinted areaI concur
The EZ pass sticker would not work
The transponder only would work if placed in the tinted area by the rear view mirror
Please share if that works! Thanks!I have EZ Pass NY and drove took the car through toll plazas for the first time yesterday, and had placed the EZ Pass to the passenger side of the mirror, however lower down where it wasn’t tinted — and it didn’t work. After arriving I moved it up all the way near the top in the tinted area on the passenger side of the mirror, and will report back if that worked any better when I head back home tomorrow.
the area with the dots is exactly where I placed the transponder now… hopefully this now works… we are about to get on the NJ Turnpike… fingers crossed!Ok, the area where the dots are doesn’t have tint and it is most certain that the tint being used in the iX is blocking the ez pass signals
Just passed one GSP toll and it worked flawlessly… but I still try to creep like a turtle on all tolls for a period of time just to make sure they got scannedthe area with the dots is exactly where I placed the transponder now… hopefully this now works… we are about to get on the NJ Turnpike… fingers crossed!
I can now report back it worked great for me too at 3 different toll plazas …Just passed one GSP toll and it worked flawlessly… but I still try to creep like a turtle on all tolls for a period of time just to make sure they got scanned
I’m pretty sure that will not work as it is tinted with the same material as the windshieldAnother place might be the sunroof. I'd be interested to learn if anyone can try that and report if it works.
Hmm, how do you know that? The windshield is infrared glass, hence blocking EZPass. I couldn't find any info about the moonroof glass also being infrared.I’m pretty sure that will not work as it is tinted with the same material as the windshield
What’s crazy is it‘s also mentioned explicitly in the manual under “climate comfort windshield” — but it’s almost impossible to find, even now when I knew it was in there!I had the same issue, so I just ordered a license plate mount for my iPass...didn't think to move it to the dotted area - should have read this forum first!
I was going to say I saw it in the manual too, but you already found it. Most cars with these windshields have the same placement requirement. I had the same in my previous vehicles. The tags use UHF frequencies and the windows can block these signals except for that area near the mirrors. What’s crazy is it‘s also mentioned explicitly in the manual under “climate comfort windshield” — but it’s almost impossible to find, even now when I knew it was in there!
