I may well be one of them, as 20 months from now my e Tron Prestige lease will come due. The iX is the leading contender to replace what has been a great car. Still, an e-Tron major refresh has been reported by autocar that will improve range. And there are a couple of other things-
1. perhaps you all love it, but I'd just have to "get used to" that grill. It's not attractive (imho)
2. no level 2 charge port on the drivers side? I'd heard BMW always put gas filler doors on the passenger side (for US cars), which was no problem when going to a gas station. But anyone with a Tesla or e-Tron or most BEV's have already paid to have a charger installed close to the DRIVER side of the garage, etc. At least put a charge port on both sides
3. the charge port door is huge and sort of flimsy. Come on BMW you could do better than that
4. at the LA unveiling a rep told me BMW would not give lessors the $7500 federal tax credit- you'd have to buy to get that. That takes a car with a base price almost $20k more than the e-Tron and makes it $27,500 more. I'll lease since this is a new model. A lot of people on the e-tron forum have too. Not smart if this is true
5. finally- technology and price. Audi kills it with great tech. Will BMW? For example, will the middle tier audio system sound reasonable (or good)? Audi's does. BMW's (in the X5) sounds terrible (again, my opinion). BMW never cared about audio, but they'd better for this market. And with the e-Tron prestige, you can get a completely loaded almost ever option car in the 80's. BMW will be in the 100's I bet.
Anyway I'd appreciate any (non-snarky) replies! We'll all be better off with stiff competition in this segment.
