Q: If you order the car with the sports package, the wheels are increased to 21’. Does this mean that sports brakes are not compatible with 20’ wheels? The iX will have 3 different wheel sizes to choose from:
The optional 21 and 22 inch Air Performance Wheels reduce drag thanks to their V-spoke aluminum wheel design.
- 20 inches (standard)
- 21 inches
- 22 inches
The Air Performance Wheels are made of an aluminum base wheel with customized inserts between the spokes that gives them a flat design, especially on the outside of the wheel, resulting in far smoother airflow. They weigh around 15 per cent less than conventional light-alloy wheels. Range is increased by as much as 9 miles (WLTP measurement) courtesy of the Air Performance Wheels.

UPDATE: BMW confirms that I can use 20’ wheels on xDrive40 with sports brakes.
!
My 2012 BMW with M package came with low profile performance tires. The rear tires were larger than the front, which gave the SUV a really aggressive look which I loved. I purchased another set of all-weather tires and wheels for winter. The dealership actually stored them for me for about two years. I decided to switch to all-season Continentals about two years after that. My 2020 X5 with M package came with all-season tires. I configured my iX with all-season 21 in tires. it was a hard choice because the iX that I saw at a car show had really hot looking 22 inch performances tires.Hi thx, and great to have a forum.
