Trying to figure out the nuances of the idrive UX, there is one particular tiny detail I can’t quite figure out.

Under the “quicklist” horizontal bar icon in the status area along the top right corner of the idrive display, a chevron indicator will occasionally appear, and then go away seemingly on its own. The indicator is blue in “personal” mode and red in “sport”.

What’s that about? Starting to feel a bit dense here.

Responding to myself here. Think I finally got the point. The chevron (and its cousins pointing east, west and south) is a bit like a context specific tooltip that shows what moving the idrive “puck” wheel will affect for each of the four directions. For “north” this is usually the quicklist.

The indicator appears whenever idrive reckons that you are in an interacting state (scrolling, touching the screen, etc.) and goes away after a short delay once the system concludes that interaction has stopped.
