Are you all finding that the insurance for an iX is insanely high?
I pay $900/year for full coverage on my 2016 Corvette Z51 3LT,
The iX is going to cost $5000.
Are any of you getting similar quotes?
Ouch! We're picking up ours on Wednesday and that was on my to-do list for tomorrow. I'll post back when I have some numbers to share. The iX is replacing a 2021 Tesla Model S so it'll be interesting to see the difference.
Which insurance company? I called my auto insurance company (State Farm) last month and they couldn’t give me a premium because the iX wasn’t listed. I’ll try them again tomorrow.
We are currently using Farmer’s.
We do have a 16 year old driver in the house, and they won’t let us exclude him, even though he won’t be driving the iX.
Even with him on a separate policy, the iX would still be something like $4800/year.
That’s with discounts for 3 cars, and a home.
I called State Farm before I ordered mine and the quote was less than my 2011 Corvette Grand Sport. Funny thing was the quote for a Tesla X was much higher. That pretty much sealed the deal before I put my order in.
I actually have Progressive insurance. I had gotten rid of my Lexus NX Hybrid to buy the IX 50 here in South Fl. I was nervous too about insurance, but was completely surprised that the insurance was like 30% less than my Lexus (which was half the MSRP). Im paying only $1,400 per year.
Thank you all for the responses!
It's clear that Farmers, and my insurance broker, are trying to take advantage of me.
I'm quite relieved, and will shop around.
Ha! I would be VERY happy with a rate like that.
It seems that Farmers is an outlier, thankfully.
I’ll be getting quotes from State Farm and Progressive to start.
I’ll post the results when I get them.
If you go to NPR.org and search "car insurance loyalty" you'll find a really interesting report they did a few years back where the insurance companies use an algorithm that actually punishes you for being a loyal customer. I went through the same thing a few years back with Allstate.
I think dutyfree is right.
it appears that Farmers doesn’t want our business.
We were only with them for a year, with no claims or tickets.
$1600 for the M60 is awesome.
writing from the car theft capital of the US, New Jersey. State Farm tells me today that the premium for the iX will be about 1,060 per year. This doesn’t include any reduction for the car I’m trading in.
unfortunately I also live in NJ. My premium is around $1600 per year. Vehicle is listed as a pleasure car with under 2k miles per year. I have no accidents or tickets, and I’m 38, male married.
Since this post freaked me out and my iX is on a boat heading to Washington State, I checked with my insurer (State Farm). $730/year for the iX. The i4 M50 we are getting a couple months after was a little higher at $840/year. Sorry to those who are getting hammered.
Cool. I think I’m paying about 2 dollars more per Month for the iX than I pay for our expedition. Super pumped. Our sales person just let us know that we should see ours between 6/10 -6/14. Seems almost like a dream at this point since we preordered on 6/1/21.
Progressive is about $1800 a year for the iX In Texas. $25 cheaper a month than my X5. I have 3 cars and 2 teenagers on my policy…policy is separate from home.
My policy going from Tesla Model 3 to BMW iX is going up 80%..
Which seems insane !
But also proportional to car prices so maybe that’s expected?
Absolute price horrible because Brooklyn.
I just activated the insurance on my new IX 50 on Friday for WA state. It’s going to $672 a year via State Farm. I pick it up in Baltimore on Wednesday and will be driving it home.
