Would you still need a dashcam for the iX? Or can the BMW app access video saved from the plethora of cameras on the iX?
iX Has an event recorder manually or automatically activated (accident or theft). Can be viewed in car or via the myBMW app. If you download the manual you can se it in more detail. However may not be available in all countries due to privacy laws in those countries.

I'm wondering if the camera can be put in a mode where it constantly records when parked (not just in the event of theft), like the Tesla function. I had someone put a huge dent (like 2 ft long, 6 inches deep) in my SL55 almost 20 years ago in a parking lot and just drive off. I felt really violated, and wished I had the technology to catch the miscreant.

I really hope that BMW make full use of all of their cameras. I want a dash cam, not just for accidents, but to be able to press a button and bookmark/save something that was happening on the road whilst driving.

Also, the sentry mode like Tesla needs to record the outside as well as the inside. When someone breaks in, its quite possible you won't get a good shot of their face, but if they are scoping out the vehicle first, you may well get a good view. I'm talking from experience here. One of our neighbours had a Tesla broken into over Christmas, and wait for it, the police caught the guy after receiving all the footage from the outside cameras that was recorded. It was super clear footage and convinced me of the need to record everything not just inside.

With that kind of configuration, wouldn't the footage eat a lot of space? Or should there be some auto-deletion function that automatically removes an older footage based on a time-specific threshold to make room for the new recordings?
