A few days ago I got the display message "Drivetrain error - you can continue to drive, contact your nearest service provider". I did as informed and was told that the error message probably would disappear next time I started driving. The message did not disappear (and the yellow wrench was visible in the main display). I contacted the BMW service again and was told to reset the system, and I did as informed. The error message and the yellow wrench disappeared only for a short time, but came back shortly after. Two days ago I Contacted again BMW service provider and was informed that it was not a problem to continue driving. Today I started driving on a planned long trip (about 250 km) - yellow wrench still visible in main display and the message "Drivetrain error - you can continue to drive, contact your nearest service provider" still visible. After driving about 55 km the "yellow wrench" changed to a "read wrench" with message "Drivetrain error - you can continue to drive, contact your nearest service provider". I contacted BMW road assistance and then before I managed to explain my issue the display showed new message "Drivetrain defect - you can not continue driving, call BMW road assistance".
Road assistance came after app. 1. hour, and then when preparing to pull the car onto the rescue car the error message had disappared and the car could drive (no error message visble). Car taken to BMW workshop for check next week. Information will be updated when BMW has assessed and repaired the car
