When in asssisted drive mode does the iX use battery regeneration or brakes to slow down the vehicle?
It should use both, as needed. In a panic braking situation (even when not in any sort of driving assistant) the drive-by-wire system can invoke the brakes as needed. But if you’re on the expressway in adaptive cruise, you can see the regen (bottom right corner where the power meter on the driver display shows the words “adaptive” or the “down arrows” depending on which regen mode you’re in). You should see it sweep downward, indicating regeneration occurring.

Just wanted to post an update that we did get our Driving Assistant Plus activated and it's working great. It does have Active Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assistant.

I had read in one of the forums that one reason people did not expect the Driving Assistance Professional Package (DAPP) to be available as a software upgrade was that it required the steering wheel with the LED lights to warn when your hands had been removed. However, even with the Lane Keeping Assitant, there are LED lights on the steering wheel warning if you remove your hands. This makes me wonder if in fact the DAPP package may also become available at a future point.

Can anyone confirm what the feature differences are between Driving Assitant Plus vs. Professional?
Could you confirm if with the DA Plus
1. you also have this option to alternate between cruise control and assisted driving mode?
2. You also have the green wheel and the car auto center in the lane?

Previously in 2017- 19 bmw’s all there was was the driving assistant plus that had the acc and also active lane keep assist (no leds on wheel)

On the Bmw Germany site it has more extensive descriptions of the several assistant systems of the new i7. From my understanding the plus “only” goes up to 180kmh and the pro goes up to 210kmh (or 200khm for the iX). In addition the Pro has the assisted view in the dash / hud with the surrounding cars. In the i7 also displays real time front camera in center display. So the Plus should also have steering assist and up to 180kmh should work the same way as the Pro.

1. Google translate of the i7 Driving Assistant (included in base model and also in iX)

The Driving Assistant is your practical helper in dangerous driving situations and can actively intervene depending on the situation.

Inattentive for a moment? The lane departure warning warns you from about 70 km/h by steering wheel vibrations before you leave your lane unintentionally. If necessary, your BMW will guide you safely back on track with active steering intervention.

Bringing you back into your lane is also part of the lane change warning: it serves as an additional look over your shoulder and helps to prevent collisions when changing lanes. The system also warns when turning at speeds of up to approx. 20 km/h.

Help when reversing out of a parking space: the rear cross-traffic warning can detect passing vehicles at an early stage and brake automatically in an emergency.

While the front collision warning with braking intervention detects vehicles, the pedestrian warning reacts to pedestrians and cyclists. If a collision is imminent, emergency braking occurs automatically.

The rear collision warning, in turn, warns following vehicles in the event of danger. To do this, she activates the hazard warning lights at double speed. Advantage: a lower risk of rear-end collisions.

How fast can I currently drive? The Speed Limit Info with no-overtaking display and anticipation recognizes speed limits. Practical: You can use the Speed Limit Assist to adjust the maximum speed to the current speed limit.

When exiting, exit warning alerts you and the occupants to oncoming vehicles and cyclists.

2. Google translate of i7 Driving Assistant Plus

The Driving Assistant Plus makes life easier, especially on longer journeys. Between 30 and 180 km/h, the distance control permanently maintains the desired speed and the distance to the vehicle in front. The system thus increases comfort and safety. In addition to vehicles ahead, the distance control also detects stationary vehicles. In an emergency, your BMW will brake to a standstill and drive off again on its own. The steering and lane guidance assistant keeps your BMW in the middle of the lane at speeds of up to 180 km/h through active steering intervention - this relieves you, especially on the motorway, whether in traffic jams or construction sites.

Another safety benefit when distance control is activated: Your BMW automatically reduces speed if, for example, you B. approaching a curve. To do this, it uses the map data from the navigation system and automatically accelerates again at the exit of the bend.

If you ever miss a sign, use the Speed Limit Info to keep an eye on current speed limits. Using the camera or navigation map, the system recognizes speed limits or no-overtaking zones and displays a message. If you exceed the permissible limit, an optional visual warning is given.

The automatic Speed Limit Assist goes one step further if you are currently using one of the following three functions: speed limiter, distance control or cruise control with braking function. The system detects speed limits and automatically adjusts the vehicle speed.

3. Google translate of i7 Driving Assistant Professional

Whether there is an imminent frontal collision or cross traffic at the rear – your BMW will warn you and brake automatically if necessary. It helps prevent accidents when changing lanes and exiting. It also warns following traffic of an impending rear-end collision. These functions of the Driving Assistant are also included in the Driving Assistant Professional. Your benefit in total: a lower risk of accidents in dangerous situations.

The Driving Assistant Professional can do even more. It relieves you even more while driving. The system also warns you of crossing traffic at the front and actively supports you in avoiding vehicles or pedestrians in front of you. If there is a risk of a side collision while driving, your BMW intervenes independently with a steering intervention. Assisted View, on the other hand, displays real-time information about the vehicle’s surroundings in three dimensions in the instrument cluster.

How safety and comfort complement each other perfectly is shown e.g. E.g. on the motorway: Your BMW maintains the speed and the set distance to the vehicle in front up to a limit of 210 km/h. If a rear-end collision is imminent, the system brakes automatically.

The comfort highlight: Also up to 210 km/h, the Driving Assistant Professional keeps your BMW in the middle of the lane with active steering intervention - you don't have to steer as much. Your vehicle also recognizes speed limits and no-overtaking zones and automatically adjusts the speed. Requirement: Distance control is activated.

For who has made the update or has the update available in connected drive store, do your cars have the option “9QV Preparation for Driving Assistant Plus”, as mentioned this pdf?

i asked a recent quote for an iX (with no DAPro, only standard DA) and there is no such option in my quote (actually no 9xx options at all)

Really interested to know if your car already had the bigger cameras behind the rear view mirror, as the german configurator has the DAPlus as an option but it adds the same big cameras has the Pro as.

Thks @skubapooh

do you know.if you have the option “9QV Preparation for Driving Assistant Plus” in your config? Or any other option that would allow this upgrade?

I’m just not sure if the DAPlus update via connected drive store is available to all base cars in all countries (I wish it was:))

I don't show 9QV on our configuration. We did have Parking Assistant Plus which was required for the Parking Assistant Pro upgrade. Did you purchase the Parking Assistant Plus? Perhaps that required the same camera system.

They might also be rolling out the Driving Assistant Plus upgrade by region. I recall when we were looking for it, UK vehicles had it available before we did here in the US.

It’s too bad we have nothing offered in Bmw Canada. I am still waiting for the Driving Assistant plus…

I believe the parking assist plus only adds mirror and “grill” camera. I read somewhere the part number for the windshield camera is different if you have live cockipit pro, for Augmented Reality. Do you have the live cockpit pro (includes headup display)?

I have premium enhanced package, and the software version is 11/2022.64.
Well I can anticipate that either
1) not all markets have the same base equipment that allows the sw update for enabling DAPlus or
2) the sw update is being rolled out progressively by country regions or
3) the sw update will only cover specific country regions and others will be left out.

regarding the last, for example my i4 has the DAPro and doesn’t have the automatic lane change assist even with latest sw 11.2022.63. Thai feature is available in other countries for the i4. On the other hand I tested recently an iX with DAPro in my country which had that feature enabled, so bmw can apparently decide to enable or disable features by model / country.
