Hi,
Another new member from Finland.
iX40 fully Charged with sport pack on order, should take delivery in April (production just before BMW factory closure). For me, first full EV as well, now driving X5 45e. Looking forward to hearing your experience especially how you've managed this winter in terms of range, charging and usability in general.

Will get my iX40 Fully Charged next week. First EV and happy with today's petrol prices to move to an EV. It will be interesting to see what kind of range I can get out of it here in Finland.

Had 3 options Audi e-tron, MB eqc and iX. MB was too small for my needs, Audi dealer was not really interested to sell a car. BMW dealer was great and I got to test drive the car the same day.

Went to test drive the iX and was very impressed, the X5 45e actually started to feel old tech. Coupled with that, got a very nice exchange offer for the X5, so it was an easy decision for me. I basically drive the X5 in electric mode as much as I can, so this is natural progression. I cross shopped Taycan Sport Turismo, but I need more space for eMTB, summer cottage stuff etc.

Hi guys, did my duty as a Munich transplant to Finland and ordered an iX40 fully charged as company car. Will not have home charging, so entering the self-experiment of operating an EV that way (in Helsinki). Was also considering the eTron and EQC, but ultimately the interior of the iX swayed me.
Put the order in mid Feb and was told that I would get a production slot with luck in April (did not happen) or likely May - but let's see with the current situation what will happen. Driving the X4 as a rental until then (not loving it).
I was actually positively surprised you could add the rear axis steering as option in Finland, from the reviews I saw does not look like that is possible in other markets.

So far I am using free charging at my office. One choice for home is ENNAKKOTARJOUS Wolttinen XL Wallbox 11KW APP-ohjauksella sähköauton latausasema (sorry in finnish but 11 kW type 2 charging station, application to control, manual load balancing).
So far hard to tell, many differences, many obvious shortfalls compared ot Mercedes but some things also nicer. Need more experience to fully understand which I like better,
In case someone is interested, some of the nagging items with BMW iX40 are - in no particular order or importance:
- volume control knob (roll) is unusable wiith gloves/mittenson - yes this is Finland and sometimes -30C
- door opening, window falling down by 1-2 cm when opening, does not work when it has been freezing and/or raining. Interestingly I have had 2 convertibles and never such issue.
- if you still open the door (by almost force) especially the back door behaves in a way that the window does not go to the slot it is supposed but sticks out by 5-7mm ... and sounds so
- charging door (lid) and the opening has been designed so, that car charging outdoors overnight ensures all the snow is captured into it.
- charging door/bay could have heater built into it, most of the car already has and even places where it is not needed. This one does need it
- charging door/bay could have electric open/close function. Sometimes I sue is much more than the trunk
- drink holders are way to low in the front. At least to someone as old as I am
- phone charging plate are way to low in the front. At least to someone as old as I am
- phone charging reminder (accidentally leaving phone in the car) is an option, but the sound is such that I do not recognize it. Please beep like open seatbelt
- charging rates (on the app) can only be set before charging started. Most places I go to first time andcannot manyally change tha charging rate afterwards.
- remote conrol (on the app) for e.g. pre-heating is fixed to one phone. some families have 2 cars and 2 drivers - my wife cannot warm up my car but our other car (MB) can be accessed by up to 7 people and one can control who can do what
- head up display is noce, however it is polarized so that using my Ray-Ban sunglasses i cannot see anything from the HUD. Switch polarization
I am sure there are more/other things that come up to my mind. Maybe i will do a separate post with pictures later.
