Have had my ix for about 5 days now and it is fantastic. Am replacing a Tesla S. Here are a few observations.

1. Ride quality is wonderful, so much better than my Tesla. Not that impressed with adaptive regeneration though. Tried all 3 modes and just not much regeneration. Way less than the tesla. Only thing that comes close is the B mode which is more than the tesla. Did manual adjustments which do improve it some. Interestingly when fully charged it says 350 miles. Will have to see actually charging. Have used EA chargers twice now and no problems. Seems as fast as tesla charger. Acceleration is also impressive- no need to have M60 for me, the trade-off on mileage for me isn't worth it.

2. Have Harmon Kardon stereo and I think it is great. I am somewhat of an audiophile and have a B and W surround sound system at home and also have 802 speakers for another room. It obviously doesn't have the same bass woofers, but for a car not sure I need that. I just didn't think I needed to spend another $3400 for a car stereo and I am very happy with the clarity- I increased the bass setting a bit and I think the HK is really good.

3. The driver assist is not nearly as good as the Tesla autopilot. The lane keeping frequently overcompensates and goes over into other lane. It might be getting better but still an issue and I can't figure out yet how to get the lane change to work, it seems to cancel assisted driving when I try.

4. Heads up display is amazing as is the augmented reality navigation through the main display. Really high quality!

5. Seat massage is adequate but not great. My wife's mercedes is way better.

6. Seats are fine, but not a comfortable as I expected from what I read. Still keep adjusting to try to get perfect position. I got the leather which l think looks great. Was worried the castenea chestnut would be too red, but it isn't. Very happy with color.

7. can't figure out radiant heating as there is no switch. Going to call genius about this and other questions.

Overall really happy with car. Way nicer than the Tesla

Here is radiant heating setting to the left of steering wheel, fourth from left is the seat cooling fans also works well

HUD is good but lacking warnings like vehicle blind spot

Lane change a one second application of the turn indicator should initialise it - You get an arrow showing its working and indicators stay on until manouver is completed

Lane keeing not brilliant for me not many roads where I live have white lines left and right Typical Cornish Road reversing assistant comes in useful at times

I drive Auto with Max regen to me it pretty high and enables one pedal driving - Adaptive only any good in traffic, where I live little to no traffic

Home appliance Vehicle Audio equipment Media player Vehicle audio

Hey Gman, which wheels do you have, and does it seem to be consistently giving you around 350 miles on a charge?
I have the 21 inch wheels. Wish I had gotten 22s. Salesman told me would get worse mileage which was wrong and also worse ride quality but don't think that is true either. I have not taken the battery down as whenever drops to less than 50% I have charged at electrify america for 30 minutes. When fully charged or about to charge it has said up to 375 miles to fully charge. I think the 305 miles is very conservative. Going on a road trip the week after next so will have better idea.

I’ve found the lane keeping assist to be on par with Tesla, but MUCH more friendly to disengage. With the Tesla, you really have to apply a lot of pressure to “break out” of autopilot (or disengage on the stalk). With BMW, you can turn the wheel and exit lane keep much easier. It seems intelligent in that I’ve not had an accidental disengagement either. The system applies a little more “correction” if you have the weight of your hands slightly moving the wheel. I LOVE the adaptive pro in traffic. Had a few instances in stop and go traffic where I truly took my hands off the wheel and the car perfectly maintained distance / lane / brake application. And the VERY best part? ZERO PHANTOM BRAKING!!!

I think the disengagement for lane keeping assist is less harsh than the tesla. In tesla you sort of got a jerk and immediate disengagement. In the BMW you can take control without losing the driver assistance. It is much more gentle.
