Most luxurious car I've ever driven. Silence is luxury. Only real negatives are the plastic bits on the front seats for short people who hit their heads, back seat windows only go down halfway which is odd, and perhaps some more physical buttons for climate but tbh that hasn't been a bother as the auto is fine for me. Auto climate, adaptive cruise including distance and the auto regen braking all work great -- Regen braking is surprisingly effective. It should attach to home wifi. Grill isn't good but whatever given the interior design and I think the colorations on metallic oxide grey is fantastic -- definitely catches a lot of attention.

"It should attach to home wifi." So from your experience, it does not connect to home WiFi?

Don't think any BMWs do. That's not iX specific. Just seems silly but I'm sure also a non-issue since whatever updates pushed go via phone.

Cupholders up front also a non-issue imo. Fit a yeti well and easy to grab. I find the concern funny with hindsight.

The good - everything. Once you get past the cosmetic things (cup hold per placement, large grille, plastic pieces all throughout the car), this car is far superior to anything else on the road.

the bad - I usually kee mine in the garage but there was a night I forgot to pull it in and it poured outside. Next morning there was a weird milder type odor in the cargo area. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but I know my dads 5series does the same thing. Also, the my bmw app is iffy. Prior to this, I owned a 2011 e90. Didn’t have use for the app so I’m still new to it but again it doesn’t always work. CarPlay is also hit or miss. Lastly, bc of its price you won’t want to park it anywhere you can’t see it lol

I don't have the iX50 but have owned the iX40 and done 1,000km. Coming from a G06 X6, I have no complains and even the range on the 40 is sufficient for me - I typically charge at 25% to 85% and the 60% gives me about 250km of range. A small gripe - will be great if the charging socket flap open by sliding upwards rather than side-way - the flap is big and at times can get in the way especially for certain charging stations with small narrow parking lots.

Unfortunately, there is no way to connect the car to an external wifi source. Another negative is in order to take advantage of the built in 5g for a hotspot, in the U.S. you need to be a T-Mobile customer (with their own cell plan) in order to get it. I hope that exclusivity deal doesn't last long and it opens up to other carriers.

Yup that's the challenge I have. Dead spot in my garage...

I have an xDrive50 with every option except the exterior trim and a extra-charge paint.

Good - Exceptional ride quality and interior experience. I was concerned about the lack of direct control over all the heated and ventilated seats and heated steering wheel, but the auto-climate function works flawlessly such that I don't need to or want to worry about it. If it's too hot or cold, I just change the temperature and the car takes care of the rest. The ride is smooth, potholes are non-existent (speed bumps are worse), and the seats are very comfortable. The Bowers and Wilkins sound system is amazing (I am hearing new instruments in old songs! If you have the option, download the dolby atmos version of your music). Turn up the seat bass. I love the feel of the screen.

Bad - Navigation is okay, but I prefer the CarPlay routing. Wish the gesture control was more reliable (it's a gimmick, I know, but it should work more reliably). The app menu isn't organized in any logical way (that I could tell). Have to get used to how much to push/pull the signal stalk so I can use the lane change assist. Even though the screen doesn't have a glossy finish, there's still finger prints. Lastly, my girlfriend refuses to drive it (out of fear of hurting it) so I don't get to enjoy the passenger experience.

Definitely a grand vehicle and I love it!

Great insight, thank you. I saw the first one on the road today (Napa, CA) and was happy to see they are finally entering the marketplace. Looking forward to actually getting behind the wheel in a month!

Hello. Would you mine sharing some pics of the oxide color. I am torn between Oxide and Aventurin. It would be very helpful. :)

Looks great!
Thanks. I bought a canceled order as opposed to picking it -- this was on offer with features I wanted and so bought it without having any idea what the color was. Having seen a number of different colors now I personally think it's the best color. Probably the oxide or the red but this is pretty classy with the black highlights.
