Got this gem of a warning on my iX two weeks after delivery. Also came to the My BMW app. Gosh BMW, you recommend I schedule a service appointment soon? Duh.

This has happened to me a couple times - goes away with a restart - I had the dealer look into it and they said it was a known issue and waiting for a software update from BMW to resolve.

The message I got back from my dealer is the system can be 'fooled' by bright sunlight or debris (snow, mud) covering the sensors. They re-calibrated the system, but I still get the warning on the HUD when I am driving towards the sun. I can't confirm in snowy or muddy situations. It's summer here and I am not taking this off-road.

Interesting and makes sense - it happened to me on clear days. BMW is clearly not a software company :).. that being said - i have not had the issue in several weeks despite sunny conditions, etc.,

Tesla, ostensibly much more of a software company than BMW, also cannot get its AEB (emergency braking) to work properly. They are currently under investigation by NHTSA for a phantom braking issue. I wouldn't be so hard on BMW.
no complaints! I'd much rather have a solid built car that requires a couple restarts vs a car with mechanical issues! know too many unhappy Tesla drivers which is why i've never considered. There are a lot of small bugs with my iX which are a nuisance, some more serious than others - hoping for a OTA soon to start resolving.

On that note - does anyone know someone who can re-enable the anti-dazzle lights on the iX in the US? I had someone do it on my 2021 X5 40e and it's awesome!

This issue just happened to me this morning too while driving to work. Got an alert that Driver Assistance is disabled as there is an issue. When I arrived at work I checked my phone and saw this exact issue. Only had the car a couple of weeks too.
I do remember that it was bright sunlight I was driving into when this happened. Definitely not mud or snow.
The car had only just updated to new software too, 03/2022.51
