Does the HUD support Apple car play Apple Maps app?

If you mean the HUD projected onto the windshield, no I don't think so as it is a very stream lined HUD.

yes, Apple Maps can be seen on the HUD screen and on the dash. Google maps and Waze cannot on Apple CarPlay.

I believe the issue is that Google maps and Waze do not support multi-screen CarPlay while Apple Maps does. IOW, BMW (and other multi-screen cars) can support multiple screen CarPlay, but the CarPlay app in use must also support it and quite a few popular ones don't.

If you use Android Auto, google maps appears on the heads-up (I am given to understand)

I use my HUD for the advanced traffic screen, but I can confirm Google shows on the instrument cluster with AA, as well as the main screen.

On .64 and Android Auto I get Google maps and Waze on the HUD.
