I have had my IX50 for a couple of weeks now. Overall very happy with it so far. A few things bugging me though:
  1. Why does the drive mode keep resetting itself back to "Personal" every time I switch off - I want the option to keep the "last mode" when I switch on again
  2. "Personal" mode implies that you can configure it but there are no options to do so (whereas there are a number of options in "Sport" mode.)
  3. User activation/management process very buggy and poorly signposted. I made it work, but only after several re-tries and working through different options/order of doing things. Has anyone at BMW actually tried this in real-life and do they think it is acceptable? Especially as it is pretty much your first interaction with the car.
  4. It is hard to see/find how efficiently you are driving - some analysis of KWH/mile over time and distance would be super useful.
  5. Why does pressing "menu" take you to the dashboard and not the menu - then there is a tiny button to open the menu which is hard to push when you are driving.
  6. Why can't you set a start time for charging - only an end time. I want to make use of discounted charging overnight.
  7. (UK specific/non iDrive one). The 12 month discounted Ionity pass only covers the UK. You are stuck paying the standard (exorbitant) charges in Europe.
If anyone from BMW is looking at this - it would be great to see these addressed in a subsequent release. Equally, it is certainly possible that there are easy ways to do these things already and I am simply missing them - so any advice from the forum welcome!

And just to repeat, overall I am super happy with the car - in particular it drives/handles so much better than any large 2.5. tonne car has any right to!

Thanks, Rob.

Have you set shortcuts ? A push forward on the idrive wheel takes you to short cuts you can selct what common tasks you want
I can set Start time I think people have had issues with stopping time if they have set the off peak charging times and a departure time
This can be done in car or via the app - in car it always defaults to charge immediatley when you switch off so you need to set to time slot

I am absolutely with you on testing 6 years in development - should have got it right pretty much first time

Thanks re the timeslot tip - that works.

Need to check the short cuts when I next get into the car.

For question 4. you can configure one of the widgets to show your KWh/Mile. Its the widget that is a big picture of the car. I think it defaults to since last reset, so you can use it for long term or reset for journey. I've haven't played around with it but think that is what you are looking for. As you can move the widgets around you can pull it into view on the iDrive screen.

Thanks Nathan - I have seen that. I was looking for something like a moving average over time - like you get on a Garmin watch for example.
