Just a heads up, my wife connected her Iphone via the USB cable on the USB ports next to the wireless charger. This caused a failure, so I would stay away from doing that.

No audo volume for Radio (FM or DAB) or Spotify. Spotify app claims it does not have an internet connection. Not able to connect iphone via bluetooth for audio anymore. Systems sounds are still working. The volume bar shows nothing other than "resource not available". Remote management of the car is still working.

Dealer sees some error codes remotely but cannot reboot car. Appointment set for end of the month.

For what its worth, in a car with that much software you would expect to be able to reboot yourself. Oh, and we got the car I think 3 or 4 weeks back.

Hi,
i haven’t tried it myself with the idrive8 in the iX yet, but did you try to reboot by holding the volume button/wheel for 30 seconds? Maybe this still works…
Fixed! Much appreciated. I already thought it was odd that this is not possible. I know the Telsa key combo, use it frequently ;)

Nice of the dealer to tell you how to do it, rather than having to refer to a forum /s
Have just. updated the title, issue came back. Reboot of the entertainment system solves it.
Additional issue that may or may not be related, phone app is no lionger updating charging status and level, milage.
App can still be used to interact with car.

Car in shop next week.

BTW, a total systems reboot can be done with that same volume button prior to hitting the start button to start the car.

Update on the BMW App issue. More iX owners have experienced this. The resolution is to set the datasharing back to not sharing anything, reboot the system, then set the datasharing to "all" again.

I had the issue with no sound last night, I remembered this post so I was able to resolve it, so thank you. Just incase it helps anyone, here are the exact steps I took to reboot.
  • Stopped Car
  • Turned car off (ie, left car so it locked).
  • Got back in
  • Pressed Start button, with brake pedal depressed. So the car was in 'ready' state.
  • Depressed the volume control wheel (below the idrive controller, see picture) for about 30 seconds.
  • Screen went blank
  • System restarted with Sound.

I'm not sure if the steps I highlighted in red where needed or not. But the car was already parked when the sound went....

If nothing works, while the car is not turned on yet, press start button 3 times, it will go into diag mode. Then push and hold volume. that is a different kind of reboot that fixed the issue with my app not having any access at all after BMW did a software upgrade.
This one is the only one that fixed the issue so thank U ; dealer was unhelpful ; propose to keep the car for a day while your tip solved this in 5 minutes

I had the same issues with no audio source and losing the phone. Pushing on the volume control wheel for 30 seconds worked for me. Thanks!

I have had the audio and iphone connectivity issues almost on weekly basis since I got my car. Dealership did tell me how to reset the entrainment system by pressing volume button but I wonder if any of you experience the issue this often? this reminds me Microsoft asked people to reboot their windows every day to solve some of their OS issue
