@DoctoriX Nice! Enjoy! You have the same interior as my forthcoming iX (Oyster) but I've gone with the red paint. Actually I wish I could get the green paint of your i3 on the iX.

Regarding the green number plate, it has no material benefit in the UK, it's simply for raising awareness to other road users that you're driving a zero emissions (at the tailpipe) vehicle and the government hopes that if more people see cars with green number plates, it will get the masses yearning to switch to an EV.

@electric_journey Thanks! You can get the green from the i3 on the iX it's called Blue Ridge Mountain. I was thinking of getting the iX in it too but happy with my choice. The colour looks perfect on the i3 though. Our i3 has the green plate. I guess I just expected it come come on my iX the kids love spotting electric cars when we are travelling about feels odd not to have it for some reason. Apparently it's good as an identifier if you In an accident for the fire service given they have deal with electric fires differently. Hopefully that won't be an issue though.
Hope you get yours soon. Mine was less than 3 months from order to delivery.

@DoctoriX Ah that's right, now I remember. The Blue ridge mountain looks blue or green depending upon the angle of the light. Yeah, being able to identify if it's an EV in the event of an accident is useful. I asked my dealer if I could have mine debadged at the factory and he said because it's an EV, they won't debadge it as the emergency services need to be able to identify the model in the event of an accident.

Yeah, I went for the 40 as they told me it would be 2 months from order to delivery. Just a few more weeks till mine arrives and my neighbours will be striking up conversations telling me how ugly they think my new car looks (and I will be ignoring all of them!)

Lovely car. SO many settings to get my head around! View attachment 2491

Need to get some more photos in more space.

For some reason the dealer didn’t pop a green number plate on for me (the other one had one - maybe they ran out) - I’m in 2 minds whether get them to swap it for me.
Are they still producing the i3 for the UK market? My husband had a 2017 iX with a 3-year lease and we loved that car! Unfortunately, range dropped down quite a bit during our cold winters and got progressively worse year over year. The buy-back on the lease was way too high to justify keeping it and the model was discontinued in Canada at the end of the 2021 season.

I've got an iX 50 on order, having put a reservation deposit on it in February 2022. I got word about 3 weeks ago that I've received an allocation and my car is scheduled to go into production in October, for late November/early December delivery. I'll believe it when I see it since I've been reading horror stories about North American delivery. Coincidentally, our i3 was in what looks like phytonic blue and I've ordered my IX in blue ridge mountain. Which wheels are those on the iX, by the way?

Here in the province of Ontario, all green plates are entitled to use the HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) lanes with only one person in the car. I'm not sure if you have HOV lanes in the UK, but when traffic volume is high it can really make a difference. I'll be trading in my Volvo XC90 t8 when I get my iX, and can't wait to have a vehicle with such impressive range. The Volvo's been great for regular city driving, at 29 km per charge, and I have loved using those HOV lanes with my green plates.

Enjoy both of your BMW EVs! That i3 was our favourite car of all time. I have a feeling I'm going to love my iX as much, if not more.

Hey @GailO

They stopped making the i3 in July for the UK (and anywhere I believe), we got ours in Nov. Certainly a great car hard to believe the design is nearly 10 years old they seem to have stopped selling them at their peak. We have it on a lease and my wife wants us to buy it but I’ll see how we go over the next year. There are tax advantages through the business but depends on usage and I am concerned about owning out right with the battery.

On the iX the wheels are “21" 1011 style Bi-colour aero alloy wheels” with the black as the main colour.

No special lanes for EVs here In the UK with the green plates I can imagine if they introduced that our media would have a field day haha.

Really enjoying the iX so far the luxury interior is certainly a stand out. The driving assistance is great too on a par with my experience driving a few Teslas.

So sad to hear about the demise of the i3. It was the most fun car to drive and certainly the most fun car to look at. And the exterior belies the incredible roominess inside. BMW Canada never really promoted it, likely because dealers make so little money on after-sales service on pure EVs, which traditionally provided the bread and butter for dealerships.

Great to hear you're enjoying your iX so far. I have no intention of using the driving assistance; scares the living daylights out of me, lol.

In Australia it is mandatory on plates for all vehicles that have any sort of battery storage, and it is to alert fire services in case of an accident. I assume because dealing with a vehicle fire in an EV is different from an ICE vehicle
