My dealer is asking if I want a tracker fitting to my iX. I am based in the UK and think because of the value of the car my insurance company will want one. I did wonder if it might be inbuilt to the car and I just need to activate via a subscription (as it is in my Taycan) but appears not. Do any of you know? Can’t see anything in the brochure anywhere.
Thanks

Great, thanks - I figured that would be the case - just seems a bit strange on such a modern car that there isn’t an inbuilt one.
I dont know much about the Taycan tracking system but I'm not sure it is of the Thatcham standard that insurers require. The independant Trackstar BMW offer for the iX S5 or S7 cannot be disabled in car like the built in Car locator standard on most BMW's now. I'm getting the S5 which has a fob so if the car is taken with the keys or your phone or scanned (and not with the fob) will alert Trackstar immediately. The S7 will alert if the car is moved or tampered only so you would have to contact them to start tracking if taken with the keys etc. The other Trackstar products with imobilisers cannot be fitted to EV's.

I had a system with fob for my M3 CSL pictured was always getting called by Trackstar on track days when I left the car running and walked away from the car with the fob in my pocket !
