I saw that video by coincidence this morning before I saw this thread.

It was interesting because he doesn’t use rose colored glasses.

I like the iX a lot (and am waiting for mine pending the airbag fix) but I thought that he gave it a very mediocre score.

He complained about the nostrils, the laggy touch buttons, the location of the wireless charging pad, the door closing sound, the rear space high floor, the plastic hole in the seats, the “gaudy” crystal buttons, the rainbow reflections, the acceleration lag, the steering wheel and on and on.

If I hadn’t checked out the iX in person and only base my opinion on his review, I’d get the impression that this is a comfortable but ugly SUV with tons of poor design elements for $100k.

I like some of his videos but I thought his iX one was not good. He didn’t even know how to turn on B mode by pulling back the shifter back. “Is there one pedal driving ?!?”

Expect more from someone who purportedly reviews tech.

WHAT acceleration lag? Is this guy on crack? It will appeal to people who like gasoline cars? This reviewer is a complete and total moron. He's also a big Elon Musk ass licker and a Tesla apologist and boot licker. I'm not surprised.

Door closing sound? I have soft-close doors and never met anyone who cared about the sound a car door makes when it closes. It seems like a very odd thing to focus on, especially when all frameless doors sound this way. For a reviewer, he sure doesn't know much, but judging by his looks I also wouldn't expect much. I have a thing against so-called professionals with Kramer hair and who wear hoodies.

If you want real people to take you seriously, get a f*ing haircut and maybe don't wear a hoodie.

His typical tech reviews are researched, detailed, informative (at least the ones I've seen). He knows the tech & knows what people are interested in finding out.

This? It's like someone handed him a car he knows nothing about, then he judged it by its looks & didn't bother to learn anything about it.

He claims he tried to figure some things out but it's clear he couldn't be bothered to do a 1-minute search on Google.

This review isn't worth anyone's time.

His looks? Think about what you’re saying….
I’m not the biggest fan of him. But, that’s a terrible take. You’re judging the guy based on how he’s dressed and his haircut…. Would you feel better if he had a fade and a suit on? If you need me to to explain what a fade is I can help you out…. Honesty, this is a comment I would expect from a wild Tesla fanboy….

I like his tech reviews. He seems to know what he is talking about and has done the research. But his car reviews, not so much. I watched the review and seem to recall that he said the iX was obviously not built from the ground up as an EV because it has no frunk etc, which is a really stupid thing to say, unless I am unaware of an ICE iX running around somewhere?

His car reviews are lazy and uninspired. But, he will keep doing them because the amount of people who watch them is a wild number. The guy is wildly popular for his tech reviews. It’s funny how people are making very different comments towards him than other reviewers when they had negative things to say about the IX……….

I want to add to this. Times have changed, and YouTube [tech] reviewers don’t wear “suits”. In fact, many successful tech startups have CEOs that don’t dress in the ways of the “old”.

He has a seat at the table with Tim Cook, Elon Musk, Satya Nadella, and many more. He doesn’t change his attire to sit with these leaders, and they don’t expect him to. They take him seriously, because at least for tech, he knows his stuff and it matters not what he wears. He was able to achieve that level of credence with his name, haircut and attire.

I sat back and watched them dig a hole for themselves with their comments - of which were probably “restrained” given this public forum. I have duly noted who they are - and I mean who they are.

Maybe it's because when others had negative things to say about the iX, they were real things. Saying that the iX doesn't have one-pedal driving is an idiotic misstatement coming from someone tasked with reviewing the car. If someone is going to review a car, they better damn well know how the car works. Clearly, it takes a bit more effort to review a car than it does the newest release of iOS.

I also don't appreciate reviewers telling me their opinions about the looks and this goes for all the reviews out there. Kyle Conner w/ Out of Spec Reviews is one such reviewer. He mentions the "ugly" continuously throughout his review. Anyone versed in BMW's history as well as basic design concepts can understand what BMW did, and why. But to do so would require time to research and understand—something Youtubers seldom do because they are under constant pressure to litter the internets with their hyperbolic content.

I'm happy that otherwise uneducated, low-skilled people can make a living by cutting videos on Youtube and presenting themselves as something they aren't. Where else could they find jobs? 🤷‍♂️

In general I don’t dislike his reviews. He keeps his reviews succinct and his viewpoint is more tech. I like new tech in cars. It’s a major factor when I buy a car and is often glossed over by older non-tech reviewers. I don’t care if I feel “disconnected” from the road or some of the other superfluous subjective gooblygook you might find in a Car & Driver review.

If you compare his iX review to the other EVs he has reviewed on his YT channel it’s apparent he did not show up prepared for the iX. Churning out half-informed reviews does not reflect well on him.
