Just got mine. I ordered the premium package which comes with “power front seats with lumbar, massage, and adjustable back width”. Seats. Plural. Mine only has massage and adjustable back width on the drivers seat. That seems crazy and a little misleading

I noticed that when I tried to order and/or get one that in the U.K. has the comfort pack on, which adds massage it adds an additional option to delete lumbar support and with adjustment… Afaik the lumbar is used for the massage too so as you say really rubbish on this spec of car. A couple of dealers said it was down to chip shortages and the BMW website does seem to state this but in an unclear manner :(

And only a £300 reduction you still get the seat heating and cooling functions

Didn't seem to indicate any reduction, did they reduce the cost of the Comfort/Comfort Plus pack then? Wasn't sure what the price was before.
Was listed at £3200 and charged £2900
I suppose if supply was limited better to be able to build 1000 cars than 500
There are more features missing mainly software related those I am aware of - any to add ?

No manouver assistant
No GPS link to Panoramic view (T Junction) its got the auto window lower function !
No Hotspot App

Along with some other manufacturers and industries, we have had to make adjustments to our production programme to take into account the worldwide limited availability of semiconductor components. This means there are some production restrictions in place that may impact delivery dates and the availability of certain equipment. BMW retailers across the UK are best placed to provide updates on approximate lead times for new car orders.

Where in the configurator does it say that?

Am I the only one that thinks this couldn’t be more vague?

For what it's worth, the massage seats in the IX isn't anything worth talking about... The one on my 750i wasn't as good as the MB S-class and this one is even worse. On the IX it's only in the back, no longer on the seat part and it has less features than the 750i... I was pissed too at first that it wouldn't be on the passenger side, now I'm happy I'm saving money 😂

Disappointing as the seat part was the best for long driving

This missing option is 100% completely misleading by BMW. The online order system at bmw usa states the following about the advanced seat comfort option: "Power front seats with lumbar, massage, and adjustable back width. Settings can be set by door memory keys."

Specifically it says "seats" - Not "seat" or "driver seat". Whatever the opinion about the value of this option is subjective, but the order system is just wrong to use "seats" when the fact of the matter is the massage option is strictly for the driver's seat alone.

This would be the operant wording in the US configurator Summary:

Passenger Lumbar Delete -$175

Which, interestingly, now only appears on the M60, so it 1) means that it's back on the iX 50 or (more likely) 2) the configurator is incorrect. Which it almost certainly is.

I think the most important point about this is the pricing inequity.
To lose it in one, you are credited 175.
To get it, they charge 1600 (unclear if this is for 1 or 2).

I understand there are supply issues, but those 2 numbers should be the same.

I assume that the passenger seat is still a "multi-function" seat (so it should have a few extra adjustments compared with a regular seat). Otherwise the credit should have been $800.
Still, $175 is as bit low for losing the lumber support functionality.

I've just ordered an iX40 in the UK. The dealer was convinced that the standard seats are memory seats, but I showed him on his own configurator that only if you tick the option for massage seats, will you get memory seats too. Anyway, I've gone for the £1,400 massage seats as I find memory seats very useful.

Yes, bloody annoying to see that lumbar support is deleted right now from the configurator due to chip shortage etc..
