just curious if someone without the multifunction seats (without massage and without memory buttons on the doors, like the pic below) can confirm if by using two different BMW ID (eg yours and your wife/husband) the seats move accordingly to their positions, and thus eliminating the need for memory 1 and memory 2 buttons.

If so I would also assume that if someone messes with the config (garage, your kid, ) then there will be no memory recall for the previous position, but please confirm.

thanks

Yes, It does. And regarding if somebody else uses the car, will it mess up the seat memory,,,,yes! What I have learned to do is when somebody else is going to use the car (that does not have a BMW)ie friend or relative, I change the profile to Guest. At that point the person can adjust as they like without affecting any other profiles. Its crazy to me that they didn't allow seat memory at all option levels. On my other BMWs, I had alway set a second memory position, because Im constantly adjusting positions based on how I feel. Now every time I adjust the seat I have to realize that that is the new saved ID position. Crazy for a car a this price point

I thunk this is part of BMW's grand scheme of how you apply your setups to the car. By holding them in the BMW app, you basically can unplug the car(service) and lose nothing. My wife got a new X7 and has never set up the BMW app, but I did, so her car knows me and adjusts(seat, radio, ac, etc) it does nothing for her since she has not set it up. I am interested to see how the iX behaves between the two cars when I have both in the app. My expectation is that it will have preferences for both. I do agree that it seems silly that you can't do it in the car by button. I did not get the massage seat, so I won't have the seat save buttons, and will have to delve into idrive 8 to set things up. It is the button vs. no buttons conundrum, I am opting for no buttons, and I have accepted that, however, mine has not yet arrived so I am not living it yet. We shall see soon.

They should allow to save a “base” seat position for each profile to be configured every time the car starts. And if you move and don’t save it should ignore for next time. Something easily doable with a sw update as the car clearly has seat memories built in for the profiles.

They actually are saving a seat position for a profile, but not in the car, in the BMW app when you get in the car and select your profile. Counter-intuitive to say the least, but speaks to the omnipresence of smart phones and how BMW wants to tie the two together and use your phone/profile as a backup which is consistent and predictable. Wonder what it does if you don't bring your phone with you.

I have an i4 with the same id8 and you can change ID without the phone key. And it changes the seat accordingly. Just press the ID logo change to the ID you want. Using the phone or a key you can assign a default user for each key

I just picked up my 2023 iX, with Ultimate Pkg and Leather seats and I have no memory buttons. Does this mean BMW decontented the vehicle and the passenger side has no memory now?

I'm very disappointed in BMW right now.

I also just picked up my 2023 iX with the Ultimate package, but I did not order Multi function seats( well it was going to be driver only so plural is wrong), and yes, no memory buttons. At the time I ordered, the Ultimate package did not include the multifunction seat anyway, it was a separate 1600$ option. My build started 7/6 so right as they went to 2023 model year.

Yes we saved $1,300 compared to the build they are putting out now and also the camera inside the car is gone. It is also telling me I cannot take a 360 view camera shot remotely since the US is a restricted country? I don't think so BMW. My Tesla did it live stream and my Kia EV GT Line can take a remote 360 camera shot. That is a flat out lie!

I have the camera in the car, and of course all the outside cameras, and I just took an inside photo, and an outside 360 remotely without issue. It was the first time I tried that(only had the car 1 week). Not sure about the restrictions noted.
