Are you aware if this is region based update ?
BMWs connected drive services where a bit flaky here in Australia around 2 weeks ago however they seem to have stabilized now and I have personally not had an issue with the common ones that seem to pop up like Digital Keys and myBMW app related problems.

It likely will be, but don't have details. Speaking to BMW they indicated they were aware of a number of issues that may not affect all cars all the time, but enough to generate a new update for both OS and app. Current version of app should be 2.7.0, which is fairly recent. Rollout has historically been central EU to the world moving West, but hopefully lessons learned from the multiple updates for their recent ICE vehicles. The original process did not go smoothly, but eventually stabilized; here's hoping.

"Have you tried switching it off and on again?" - spoken like a true IT support clerk, but I shall try to apply this magical fix to any problem mankind could ever encounter 😉.
Interestingly I had no issues with digital key, but again that is not really linked to the app.
I had this problem a few weeks ago after I took it in for the safety recall and software update. The way to fix it is to go into the privacy settings on the IX dash and deselect and then select again,,,,like toggling them on and off....As soon as I did that it worked

Who's doing QA on this flipping app?
Anyways, magical on/off maneuver did not yield the desired result, didn't find the cable so could not unplug

2.8.1 now on Android. Charging History still hit or miss for users (and still inop on mine), but Amazon Alexa integration seems to be pretty solid now. Will play and see what else is new....
I had the same issue in July. Really frustrating. After having tried many things (reinstalling the app, using another app - Tronity) that failed, I found the only solution that worked: a hard reboot of the onboard software. You need to hold down the volume button for at least 30 sec (take 45 sec. to be sure) and then the head unit will reboot. It should solve your problem. (It looks like the process that is in charge of sending the data from the car to the BMW servers crashed and you need to reboot to restart the process).

Just had this issue myself. Had to put it into diagnostic mode (three quick presses of start button), hold down the volume key for a minute (30 seconds didnt seem to work), and then it started updating again. Though it did throw a charging error when i plugged back in the first time but it worked now and the app is updating properly.

Yeah, the two times I’ve had to reset the head unit, it took multiple tries for it to work too.

Does the Charging History begin to work after this toggle? Also, I've never got the Charging Management (on the app Settings) to allow me to enable the Charging History (its icon never stops spinning). I now have the 2.8.1 version of the Android app.

I wouldn't count on it. Fix possibly in the next month or so.
