My BMW app will not update with location, vehicle status or charging

Hi Hugh, I haven’t tried this myself as I don’t have my iX40 as yet, arrives next week. However, other owners have resolved these issues (audio issue, location, app connectivity, etc) by “rebooting” the system in the car. So possibly try this first.
Copied from another thread for your reference are instructions by @Jamezola - “simply press and hold down the volume rocker dial in the centre console on the bmw ix until the media screen goes black (10-30 seconds) and then allow it to reboot itself, this take a minute or two once the screen has gone black”.

Hi guys, have had my ix40 not updating charging status or any activities on the iphone app since Feb 2nd, and today my car went to dealer (because of other issues) but none of the above, including "booting" have helped so far. Initially my car also did not update location from the dealership, but first major software update (early January) fixed that and for a month my app worked fine with all features, including charging.

Yeah, just completed 1,000 miles in the ix40 and the apps a bit glitchy, not suffering the location issues, but sometimes real time traffic info doesn’t show and sometimes s rates it has no connectivity. Had a few BMW’s with I drive and never had this level of glitchyness… I expect sooner rather than later software updates will resolve said issues (I am actually assuming it is lack of 5g coverage perhaps as the root cause- a guess!) but will have to wait and see…

G'day, I had exactly the same issue. This is what I did - Ensured data privacy was set to all on, car in drive ready state and then hold down the volume wheel for 40 seconds, the next day everything was working as expected. ConnectedDrive support team acknowledged that this is a known issue and will not be fixed until software version 2022-3 is released. They did not say when this release would happen.

Just an update, my car seems to be under investigation at the dealership today as my MyBMW app informed me that my car is charging, and subsequently that it is full. I am not sure whether it is due to complete reset (as @B.M mentions) as my car most likely went through such cycle. I will speak with the dealer and update more, and if I hear more on the 2022-3 software version likewise.

Car returned to me, upgraded to 2022-03 version 509 to be exact. All application errors are gone, car location is correct, charging status updated and keeps updating, all remote functyions seem to working for now.

Hugh - are you in Australia? If so, I got told by the dealer (the My BMW app was showing incorrect charge/range) and I was told that the entire BMW connectivity app was down. This meant at 9% I could not charge at ChargeFox (5 year subscription included in purchase price). I made the assumption that the charging station could not recognise the car. I tried 5 different stations in Newcastle before making it home(just) and taking wifey to the airport in our petrol car!

def an issue and bugs with BMW app in UK - have emailed bmw SEVERAL times about this but they said it can take one month for a reply to investigate!! not helpful, was working fine a few weeks ago absolutely perfectly

Same issue here. Got my iX3 2 weeks ago. Installed the app, registered the account, but when selecty the country (Malta in my case) I get an error message that terms and conditions could not be located. The local agent told me the problem is from BMW Munich. Still waiting. I have another issue with the contactless tailgate opening....it is part of the package, but somehow it is marked as not installed. I expected a much more professional service.

My ix 50 is doing the same. I picked my vehicle up on 4/1/23. It went in for a recall update. It only updates My Trips and last trip. Very frustrating.
