New Recall?

7512 Views 57 Replies 24 Participants Last post by  Spamtastic
Just heard from my SA that my iX 50 is subject to a new recall. It entered production 10/15 and finished somewhere at the end of October or early November.

Right now he says he doesn't know any more than that there's a recall and therefore a Delivery Stop.

Has anyone else heard anything different? I checked my VIN on the BMW recall checker and nothing shows up...

My IX 50 was due to be delivered on 20 December and has now been put on Delivery STOP due to recall/upgrade by BMW. Vehicle cannot be released.
BMW Dealer knows nothing more - doesnt know if its a hardware or software issue and nothing mentioned on Recall log.

Wait all this time, double checked the build sheet against specification and then BMW score another Own Goal!

EEEEEK!
No way!
That’s a complete disaster.

Update….
BMW U.K. are still not releasing any information at all regarding this EDU Delivery Stop.

Number of affected vehicles unknown except that the Delivery Stop is global.

Rumours are that delays could be 12 weeks or more due to shortage of EDU assemblies.

That’s bad news for me as my vehicle is already pre registered and will now most likely not be delivered until after the next “23” Registration release making my vehicle ‘old’ before it’s even seen the light of day!

😔
If u know the code ( my recall is 0012920500, 0061390700) the is very few parts in Poland. My are booked and I am waiting for replacement of front motor before delivery. Not payed, not registered yet.
Unfortunately all the information I have is DELIVERY STOP: ELECTRIC DRIVE UNIT.

TBH BMW U.K. are worse than useless!
For a £100+k car it is atrocious customer service.
Coming from Mercedes I hope I haven’t made a bad decision!!

Let’s see what the New Year brings.
I have X5 45e and even I had recall too BMW in Poland is very good. Of my understanding u have tha same recall. Moreover it is applied to all i BMW. Even fresh i7. One of the coo partners have some problems in front drive unit. Hope u get quick fix.
We supply machines to all the premium EDU manufacturers around the world so I should get some inside info this coming week.

I originally ordered a Merc GLE 350DE but then Mercedes refused the Order. I then Ordered a BMW X5 45e and then that Order was refused - deliveries >12 months - so I was “guided” into going with the BMW IX M50. What a rollercoaster ride I’ve had even before driving anything!

Mercedes and BMW both suspended building top spec Hybrid SUVs because they could make more money in using the same Chips in High Margin EV models!

I was 2 months too late 😵‍💫
Hey just piggybacking off this note where are you located we have the same problem we have to email text for everything we've had no information passed along from the date it went into production through this recall and now we're just sitting here waiting
I’m in the U.K. and rapidly losing faith TBH.
I haven't seen one yet but the reviews have been good.
The EQS with the Infinity Dash is amazing and that would (may yet) be my choice also.
😊
UPDATE from BMW UK ...

This vehicle is on a Delivery STOP and will require a replacement electric drive unit (HEAT module) before delivery, the campaign that will be replacing this STOP is in preparation and will be published shortly, we are finalising the preparations, parts and tooling requirements. It is expected that parts will begin to arrive in the next few weeks and ideally the rework would be completed by your Retailer soon afterwards. We will update via the Retailer HUB bulletin when further information is available.

ohhhhh dear!

So, because this Delivery Stop has not been grounded and could take months to resolve, I’ve now chopped the IX50 order and bagged a stonking Lease Deal on an IX M60 in Storm Bay with all the other mega options EXCEPT the Clear and Bold - even I can’t handle that glitz.
So happy!

Now looking to get confirmation of a Feb 23 Build Slot for March Delivery.

Good luck to all those caught up in this delivery stop mess and hopefully things will improve.

A question to everyone out there - has anyone actually had their IX or I4 Front EDU changed yet?
UK dealers cannot change the drives without special tooling and of course replacement EDU’s ??
