Pushing this to the top, I called bmw genius. Something something not an "official recall," so there are less details and it is vague. There is a work order for my BMW IX since 12/15. It arrived at port on 12/13.

'insert non specific text' and something about the drive unit

It is on hold and stuck at port still.

Edit: any new/detailed information that any gets is appreciated

Mine is officially on hold (no official recall) with no ETA.

My SA confirmed that mine is currently going to stay at port and there is no plan to send it back to Germany to get fixed.

Beyond waiting, I wonder if the SA is pressuring you(Tk521) to get a sale this year.

I asked my SA about what was going on with the hold, but I have yet to hear back yet.

My vehicle is currently one of those sitting at the port of Baltimore under a stop sale. I have a question for those more knowledgeable about EV’s (this will be my first). Baltimore is currently experiencing an extended period of unusually cold weather (currently 15f/-9c). Will sitting outside, and I am assuming not being plugged in at any time, for an extended period in this weather cause any damage to these vehicles or their batteries?

My IX 50 was due to be delivered on 20 December and has now been put on Delivery STOP due to recall/upgrade by BMW. Vehicle cannot be released.
BMW Dealer knows nothing more - doesnt know if its a hardware or software issue and nothing mentioned on Recall log.

Wait all this time, double checked the build sheet against specification and then BMW score another Own Goal!

Update….
BMW U.K. are still not releasing any information at all regarding this EDU Delivery Stop.

Number of affected vehicles unknown except that the Delivery Stop is global.

Rumours are that delays could be 12 weeks or more due to shortage of EDU assemblies.

That’s bad news for me as my vehicle is already pre registered and will now most likely not be delivered until after the next “23” Registration release making my vehicle ‘old’ before it’s even seen the light of day!

😔

If u know the code ( my recall is 0012920500, 0061390700) the is very few parts in Poland. My are booked and I am waiting for replacement of front motor before delivery. Not payed, not registered yet.
Unfortunately all the information I have is DELIVERY STOP: ELECTRIC DRIVE UNIT.

TBH BMW U.K. are worse than useless!
For a £100+k car it is atrocious customer service.
Coming from Mercedes I hope I haven’t made a bad decision!!

Let’s see what the New Year brings.

We supply machines to all the premium EDU manufacturers around the world so I should get some inside info this coming week.

I originally ordered a Merc GLE 350DE but then Mercedes refused the Order. I then Ordered a BMW X5 45e and then that Order was refused - deliveries >12 months - so I was “guided” into going with the BMW IX M50. What a rollercoaster ride I’ve had even before driving anything!

Mercedes and BMW both suspended building top spec Hybrid SUVs because they could make more money in using the same Chips in High Margin EV models!

I was 2 months too late 😵‍💫

Thank you the information; I believe my iX is under this Stop sale as well - something I was finally able to pry out of my dealer. Communication is not good with my dealer - thank you all for posting here as it where I am able to keep up with what is going on.

Hello. I appreciate all the updates. I ended up getting another EV as I have been in need of a vehicle for a while, and my quest for an iX began last January. The iX seems to be a great vehicle, but I had issues with the dealers and am tired of the non-responses about what is going on with the vehicle. Good luck to you all in getting your vehicles; I am sure they will be great when finally delivered. I will miss this forum as I learned quite a lot about EV’s here.

My vehicle (mfg in 11/22, delivered 12/30/22) came with a battery log form. See below. I don't how to interpret the numbers the inspector wrote down though.
