BMW are so difficult to deal with!

How can it be possible for them to put an EDU delivery stop on my first order for an IX50 in mid December the day before delivery, and it still sits there today awaiting parts, and I cancel my order and change to a new Factory Order of an M60 in January which will now be delivered in 2 weeks!
The IX50 still not fixed.

I cancelled the IX50 as I couldn’t live with the idea that inexperienced engineers were going to do a heart transplant on a £100k+ car!
I had no idea that the car would be shored up for 4 months+

A lucky but wise decision I made - but for BMW - it is nothing short of a shambolic performance.

Received my IX this week in Orlando. Found out that the service department was able to order the airbag week before last, and they are sent out VIN specific. I know this because they received one and they told me it’s there, then found out it was for another call, and that they ordered it. 2 days later they fixed it and called me, and I got it Wednesday. So push the dealer because they’re available to order it sounds like!

Seriously. The whole thing has operated under some weird cloak of mystery. No communication or details about the process or timeline or anything. My dealer said they talked to BMW and they prioritized my car, but that was last week. It makes no sense. I can't believe this is what customers have to deal with when we are paying 100k+ for the cars.

Yeah, this whole BMW EV purchasing experience is sub par.

I’ve been trying to replace my Tesla Model 3P with something similarly powerful since last summer and for me the only two attractive options are the i4M50 and the iXM60 for many reasons.

But BMW makes it impossible to purchase their cars.

The i4M50 has no allocations (I’ve been on a dealer’s list since June 2022) and the one iX that I found in stock locally with the color combo and options that I like just sits there waiting for an airbag. Does BMW not have beancounters that want revenue? Since when are $100k products just sitting there a good idea, from a $ point of view?

And why does competition not have better products?! With EVs, it’s unfortunately only Tesla that executes well in significant volumes. The rest is an embarrassment.

If I really needed a vehicle now, I’d probably hold my nose and just buy a Tesla when BMW can’t get their act together.

Just to repeat, Nov production IX 50 that had the EDU Electric Drive Unit, Air Bag, and Seat Software Program Issue.
The website status isn't current, but BMW Genius just said the EDU and Airbag have been fixed. It is being prepped for shipping.

This process has had so few updates that I feel gas lit.

That’s awesome, and interesting. So basically dealers are able to order VIN specific airbags and get it done sort of separately from the “mass” process that otherwise is happening passively?
I think all of this is VIN specific. It's how they track all the things and how they have an idea of which vehicles likely have a defective airbag.

FWIW, I’d considered switching to an M60, but didn’t want to lose range and the iX 50 was almost the exact spec I’d wanted.
I considered switching to an "equally" configured m60. Then BMW Genius said it was all clear, and my SA confirmed they weren't lying today. It was the first time the sales agent sent me a message on their own!

At least the build quality and drive has seemed worth the wait.... issues be damned!

But seriously.... 0/10 rated communication..... This support group of crowd sourced knowledge 11/10 (this and another forum)

Looks like my recall was just cleared. Hope that’s true. My iX 50 has been sitting at the VDC for a month. It’d would be nice if it will finally be sent to the dealer.
Same! Dorado Leader arrival, bound for Colorado. SA says they won’t know a specific ETA until it ships, but that before the end of the month is extremely likely. Possibly this week. Hallelujah! Of course, in keeping with this shit show, the car I’d planned to trade in is in the shop indefinitely awaiting a whole ass new high voltage battery. ETA is a shoulder shrug. They won’t know until the thing literally ships from the factory. So, that’ll make this purchase a bit more interesting.
