I just picked up the car after the airbag recall. And I had a new software installed. And so what did I notice new.
1. Completely different sound in iconic sound.
2. Two new modes and now there are five of them - personal, sport, efficient, expressive and relax. Depending on the modes, the sound, the backlight and the central screen change. The function of saving the mode for the next auto start and remembering the tinted roof has also been added.
3. The new mode on the head up display is sport mode.
4. Safety and warning now has an emergency stop projection.
5. Lane change reminder function before turning, vibration on the steering wheel.
6. The navigation view has been slightly changed with the addition of a quick search button for the charging station.
7. Changed the type of climate control and added a button to turn off the air conditioner.
8. The function of turning on the climate has been added to the digital key.
9. In the sound settings, you can turn on the «welcome” sound.
10. Now the speed limit is 130 miles instead of the previous 125 miles.
And a lot of other things that I didn't have time to study.

Good changes in my books and nice to see progress, what I don't like is that they seemed to have merged the controls for panel heating and seat heating - can you confirm this has happened for you as well.

Edit: Upon further contemplation, there are some very meaningful changes here actually, bit poorly communicated in my books. There should be better release notes to current and potentially future users.

Same thing for me with the panel heating. I hope they will add a possibility to choose if you want the panel controls separately or “included” with the seatheating.
The other changes were nice though…

I feel they might have overreacted to the initial feedback that the climate menu is too busy. I get the intent and it kind of makes sense at face value, but I would have strongly preferred them separate.

Just had my IX 50 updated at dealer for the recalls. The new software update also includes a "precondition now" option when you turn engine off and exit the car,,,,finally! This allows you to keep the AC running while making quick trips to grocery or convenience store--without having to activate on the app.

Well...just had my iXM60 recalled for a serious battery issue. Apparently I have on of approximately 85 in North America that need the battery pack replaced. Dealer was exemplary in handling my recall, even got the dealer principals personal ride while this is handled. Disappointed I can't use my vehicle but pleased with the service and care. BMW Laval. My 9th purchase, going to be a 10th.

US member. My husband was called and emailed by BMW NA on 7/22/2022 as well, for the "High Voltage Battery" Safety Recall of his iX50. Our dealership has been great also. BMW NA coordinated with our dealership to have BMW Roadside Assistance, to have the vehicle towed back to the dealership immediately. My husband was given a fully loaded 2022 BMW X5, which he will be keeping until there is a remedy for the recall. I accepted delivery of my iX50 on 6/3/2022 and he accepted his on 6/30/2022. My iX50 was not on the list. We do not think that this will be a "quick fix." He is doing a vehicle exchange. He test drove the 2023 X5 M50i and decided to design a custom build. He pre-ordered it on 8/8/2022. So, now we will have a "Hot Rod" ICE Bimmer and a "High Tech" EV Bimmer in our garage very soon. I owned two X5's with M packages and he had a X3 M40i previously. I think the vehicle exchange will result in a win-win for all concerned. :)

How long did the airbag recall service take for those of you that got it? I just dropped it off today and the dealer gave me a loaner, saying they won't have an update for when to get my car back until tomorrow.

I had mine done last week on Aug 12th. I have had the car for 4 months and purposely waited because the first time I took it in they had it for 3 days and did not even touch it. I wanted to wait because the techs are still being trained and there is a big learning curve. So I wanted to wait so that I could get the car back quicker. Anyway, I got mine back at the end of the day from when I dropped it off

The best new feature is that now there is a "precondition now" option as soon as you turn off car. This allows you to keep the AC running if you are just making a short run into a store and want to keep the AC running. Previously it had to be done the app when you left the car

Did you folks have to go to the dealer to get the updates or did they come OTA? Would be nice to not need to go to the dealer to get new software. Seems like this occurred in general around recall fixes so maybe no one had an opportunity to know other than seeing that things have changed when they get the car back. So is "Personel" mode now configurable? Waiting on my iX, still @ Bremerhaven for the past 22+ days.

Unfortunately, this update must be done at the dealer, its not OTA. In fact that is the only reason I took it to the dealer. I knew about the recall for months. But since they really weren't a big safety issue, I just waited, until I learned that I needed to go to get the lasted update

Makes sense, unfortunate that it is that way. Hopefully it changes in the future. Side question, I also live in Florida and was wondering about the performance of the AC in general. At work, the car would be in a parking garage, and also @ home, so I am thinking more about say a trip out where the car is getting full sun for a while. How good is the iX at cooling it down to the point where the heat is gone(and you would consider turning the AC down because you might be getting cold). My wife likes the AC on like 70, which can be an issue for any car sitting in the Florida sun for a few hours. I suppose the precondition could help, but you would have to remember to do it before heading to the car.

Button “heat surfaces and seat” doesn’t work (I can’t to turn off, always on)))))

thks! I was hoping the scrolling would be gone but there are still buttons on the right.

For the seats heating / cooling instead of a +/- they could have a bottom heat and top cooling and work the same way as the traditional button in cycles (0-1-2-3-0-1-...) and doing it a little smaller they could squeeze in all buttons. Or press the buttons themselves in cycles and put two rows of buttons. Or press to go up and swipe down to go down. So many possibilities, I mean the real estate of the climate menu is bigger than any legacy button air con unit.

Probably when the seat/surfaces works it should reintroduce the surfaces button.

I have the same "always on" issue with the new AC button on the i4.
