Newly-ordered iX 40 Sport

I have just placed my order for an iX 40 Sport in Blue Ridge Mountain with Oyster interior, Comfort Pack and Parking Assistant Plus. I’m just wondering, did I make a mistake not getting PA Pro? The car I demo’d had PA Pro but I’m not 100% from the BMW site what I’m losing only having PA Plus. Any pointers??

You can add PA Pro after your car arrives via the Connected Drive Store, and I think you may also need comfort access, which you have, as a prerequisite, and I think it costs more than if ordered from factory(?) The CD Store offers a 3 month trial for free and prices for UK are here, along with a description of the feature:
One perceived advantage in the UK, with our small parking spaces, is the ability to move the car out of a space by using your phone to move the car without getting in the car (depending on your phone compatibility). Maybe also useful for a tight garage with care.
Then there is the ability to store a number of locations where the car remembers a stored reversing path.

And the reversing path increases to 200m fwiw!!

And if using ‘automated’ parking, you can pause the operation and get out of the car and continue manoeuvring by your phone.

There are YouTube videos showing these ‘features’ not just for iX, eg. 7 series etc…

Some forum members advise caution using it, but that also applies to PA Plus.

thank you for the advice! So that’s my other question - is PA Plus worth £1,000 over the PA standard system? I have 360 degree cameras in my current car and I worry about going back to just a reversing camera in such a large car?! But the car I demo’d had PA Pro and honestly the automatic view was a bit distracting!

lastly, does PA Plus give you the AR view in the Nav? Or do you need Pro for that?

@Danielwleigh It depends upon personal preference. Of course, it's possible to park the iX when it has a reversing camera only, but having the 360 cameras on such a large vehicle makes every day life SO much easier. That's why I made sure my iX had the 360 camera included. I park a lot on narrow streets in London and my previous (much smaller car) had 360 cameras. Once you get used to modern tech like this, it's hard to live without it going forwards.

I assumed that the 360 camera is standard equipment on the iX, but you're saying it's not?

I don't know whether PA Plus means you get Augmented Reality view in the Nav. I did spec up PA Plus, and personally I hardly use the BMW Nav (mine has the AR) as I just use Google Maps.
Also, Panorama View with stored gps activation points I find really useful.

see this short thread on AR:

Thank you, yes I’m leaning towards keeping the 360 cameras! It only adds about £12 a month to my lease so I should probably stop being so tight ha. I’m leaning towards just keeping Plus and not adding Pro - as fun as the remote parking sounds, I doubt I’d ever actually use it! I’ve never fully trusted the self-parking capability of any car I’ve owned, and I can’t see this car encouraging me to fully relinquish that control and drive the car when I’m not in it!

AR is not part of the parking options packs. It is part of Live Cockpit Pro with HUD, which I think is standard on even the most basic iX in the UK as I recall… take a look at the build options and click on the Live Cockpit Pro area to see more detail.
Ah fantastic, I presumed you’d need the front camera from the 360 camera pack to get the AR view. Yes my car has the HUD as standard, so I should have it then! Thanks.

@Danielwleigh The AR view comes from the camera towards the top of the windscreen, not the camera mounted on the front grille.

Ah perfect, thank you! Looking forward to getting her now!
