OEM tires

My iX came with Goodyear Eagle Touring 255/50R21 tires. They are nice riding M&S tires but I just realized that they are NOT run flats like most other recent BMWs I've owned. Picked up a small screw and the tire deflated quickly (40 pounds to flat) in about 45 minutes. I thought this was worth a "heads up" on this forum in case anyone (like me) had a false sense of security that they could go another 50 miles after getting a tire warning. Since the puncture was in the tread section, my local Discount Tire successfully plugged and patched the damage and I'm apparently "good as new". I carry a supplemental inflator (in addition to the BMW supplied one) which proved to be a savior in getting to a repair shop since I didn't want to use the "goop" that BMW supplies as a tempo patch.

They came with Pirelli's with EV noise reduction technology. They are fairly quiet I have no complaints now. I don't know how they will hold up or how noisy they will get. I am certainly not a fan of the run-flats in general though.

I don’t know about iX yet (still waiting for xDrive50 delivery), but for iX3 and rims 20-inch and more - RFT tires are not allowed. Even in manual there is a notice that RFT are not allowed (!)

But for 19-inch rims RFT… are allowed. Even BMW OEM iX3 winter 19-inch wheels are originally sold with Michelin RFT.
