Hi all
I received my iX40 Sport in Black, with 22”wheels, heated steering wheel, electric front seat comfort pack and sun protection glass options.
Loving it so far, but having connected my iphone and the mybmw app, the phone shows a software update is downloaded to the car (version 03/2022.51) but the car itself has no option to update from version 03/2022.40 that it is currently showing as installed.
Anyone know anything about this? Anyone else managed to update to version 51?
Thanks John.

Congratulations on getting your car. Should be getting mine by end of June. Hope you get your software download issue sorted. Out of interest when did you place your order with your dealership and how quickly did they hand over your car after getting it from the factory?

Hi
I placed my order in November 2021 with an original expected delivery date of March. This got pushed out to April, then May and finally June.
I chose to lease this time (I have always bought previously) and the car arrived at the dealers on 8th June. I took the soonest possible delivery date offered which was 15th June and the car was delivered to me by the dealership on a trailer as the supplying dealer the lease company used was in London and I live in Cheshire.
I am sure you will live it when you get yours! I am delighted with mine already!
Many thanks for this info. I am also leasing for the first time, my thinking was EV technology is changing so fast there will be lots more options to look at in 3 years time. I am leasing through my local Cheltenham dealer so hope to pick it up a few days after they take delivery. We’re you given a BMW charging card by your dealer or have you had to order one online yourself?
I ordered mine late March 2022 after test driving EV from Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar & Polestar…..found the iX to be the best of the lot to drive and for comfort/luxury, at over 60yo I am like a kid at Christmas waiting for my new car😁
Forgot to mention, I also test drove Tesla S - overall found the Audi etron to be more like a regular car and the Tesla the most futuristic, with the iX in a different class all together and reminded me of my BMW5 sedan (which I loved) that I had before switching to a Volvo XC60 diesel for past 7 years, just my opinion.
Hi. Have updated to .51. When you shut the car down the screen usually has 2 or 3 lines of text ( such as charging options etc). When I had the update in the car it came up in that text asking me if I wanted to update. You may have to scroll the text to find that message.

I test drove the iPace, Tesla Model 3, Audi Etron Q4 - 50, Mercedes EQC, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Polestar 2 and Mustang Mach E. The iX40 drove just better then all of them and although not as quick as some, it had enough power for me. The extra £20k plus for the 50 for additional speed and range I would hardly ever use did not seem to offer enough value to go for that, but for anyone regularly doing more than 200 miles at a time, that is clearly the one to go for.
I have had to sign up for the BMW charging and apparently a card is on its way in about a week. It only seems to give access to 3 networks and at 69p per KWH Ionity looks rather costly! I shall be mainly charging at home though.
I am 59 myself and it has been a long wait since October!

Hi Ian

Thank you for the reply.
The car has not yet come up with any update option, it is just showing on my phone app as available and a message on the phone saying follow the car's instructions. I tried to go into it manually, but the text in the updates screen is greyed out and cannot be selected. I will give it a few days and see if an option becomes available and if not , I guess it is a call to BMW.

I am assuming you have selected the car wifi ap on your phone? Should do the trick. I upgraded without issues. Did fix some software issues

Hi DanielE
I do not appear to have any 'car wifi app' on my phone, is there any more information you can describe in relation to this?

I have the MyBmw app and the car is registered to that and it is this app that is showing the message saying the update has been uploaded to the car. However, the update is not showing as an option in the car software update screens. The current 'version 40' is showing with all other options in grey un-selectable text. ( not that any update option is there even then).
I am using an iphone 12 with the latest 15.5 software version.

Thanks John

Same to me. Asked me when shutiing down and mention that it could take 20 min. After 10 min, it was done
Hi Maverlk,
My dealer just informed me I have to apply for the BMW charge card myself. Apparently it can be used at all charge points and consolidates all information into one AP for ease of use. Also gives reduced rates at Ionity and BP Pulse for 12 months. I have gone for the 40 battery for the same reason as you did.
Hi

I know when I picked my car up the card was given to me as part of the handover.

not used it yet mind.
I got my car last week. I got an invite via the app to apply for the discounted subscription a day or so after I connected the app to the car

Mine got stuck too. A hard reboot got it started again. (Pressing start 3.times then holding the volume button down for about 30 seconds until it re-boots). Why there isnt a simple menu item to do this is beyond me!

Hi, hmm, it behaved exactly as the process decribed by BMW said it would. Uploaded the software from iphone to the car, after which is upgraded automatically. The car wifi process is using the car as an access point on which the smartphone will reguster on. That allows the code to be uploaded to the car.

Hi. When you check the remote software update page of the MyBMW app, which of the 3 tick boxes are ticked at the top of the screen? I’ve attached mine showing all three boxes checked.

Hi Ian

The was showing first 2 boxes are checked and the 3rd box says to follow the instructions in the car. However, this update screen has now stopped displaying in the App and the car says no updates are available and offers no option to update anything.
Howerver, I did not ask my phone to download the update, it popped up as an alert later on the day I got the car.
Ok. Not sure what else I can offer. Looks like a call / visit to your dealer
