Parking maneuver assist accuracy

I’ve been reading about the parking assist tech on the iX, where you can record a path based on GPS coordinates and, once you get to that start point, you can just press a button and it’ll finish parking for you, no matter how tight of a space it is. This sounds great but… does it work?

For example, my garage is fairly crammed, and ideally I’d love for the car to back into the garage and leave a very specific amount of space on the sides and behind the car every time. Is it capable of doing this? Is the accuracy only within an inch or two, or can it produce wildly different results each time?

The functionality you are describing is within Parking Assistant Professional. Don't think many cars yet been delivered with this functionality, so I'm afraid not many knows..
However, I think I read that the accuracy should be within 30cm.
My car only got Parking Assistant Plus, and the functionality of reversing out in the same track as i drove in is working very well. I would say its well within 30 cm.

Parking Assistant Professional is standard on all iX's (from a dealer document seen last year), Plus adds surround cameras, panorama view etc.
From a press release
The Parking Assistant Professional has been designed to provide
comfortable entry into and exit out of parking spaces in frequently
recurring situations. It can store up to ten manoeuvres with a total
length of up to 600 metres. This assistance is particularly helpful in
twisty courtyard entrances or tight parking situations where several
adjustments are required to guide the car into the space. Driving the
selected route manually just once with Parking Assistant Professional
activated is enough to store the GPS data and trajectories. The route
is then recognised as the vehicle approaches the starting point for the
manoeuvre. The driver can now hand over the driving task to the Parking
Assistant Professional, although they remain responsible for monitoring
the manoeuvre.

Interesting that the i4 can store GPS coordinates to activate the Panorama camera view but the iX does not
Yet it can store a GPS position to lower the driver door window - how useful is that !

The feature mentioned is likely to be a software update

I'm afraid I don't agree to that "parking assistant professional is standard on all iX´s"
You are mixing up the availability and functionality between Parking Assistant Plus (Basic) and Professional (Advanced). The functionality you are referring to in the press release is within PA Professional.
PA Professional has not been available until now when ordering a new car, and in some areas its actually not available yet.
None of the first produced cars have PA Professional, so if you buy and fetch one of the today available cars, it most probably wont have PA Professional.

You are right - dealer gave me the Spec list (internal use only) to order my options all were described and priced
The Option was 5AU Driving Assistant Professional not Parking Assistant Professional and No mention of it

Its actually called maneuver assistant. It was not rolled out on US deliveries according to BMW (when I called them to see why I did not have it on my car). Apparently it will be release during the next OTA software update. However,, they were unable to give me time frame on it. It's pretty annoying because there are some cool videos on how this works, so I just assumed it would be included, but its not yet

Its actually Parking assistant Pro (the only option) and maneuver assistant (will be eventually be avail via OTA software update),,,,you can actually watch the video on how it works by googling maneuver assistant. It will remember up to 20 parking sequences. I called BMW and this is what they told me

Thanks, im aware of the difference between them. Pro is a shortening of professional and thats only been avalsble to order for a few weeks.
Alright I’m getting a bit confused here… I have Active Driving Assistant Pro and Parking Assistant Plus as options on my car. Does this mean I’ll eventually have access to this parking feature as an OTA? Or is there yet another package I would have needed to purchase?
Alright, I did some more research and some of the things the folks on this thread said are correct.

1) Parking Assistant Plus is different than Parking Assistant Pro.
2) Parking Assistant Pro has the Maneuver feature, among other additional things that Plus does not have.
3) At least in the US, the M60 can be configured with Pro when creating a build, but the 50 cannot.
4) Pro uses the same hardware as Plus if your car was built after 3/22, so there is a chance an OTA will make this available for those that purchased the Plus package. But that has not been announced by BMW in any way (that I’ve found).

Thats a good summary. I am however not sure about that there is difference between post 3/22 builds. I also seen that statement but im not sure its right. ( maybe just because i want too keep my hopes up since mine is pre 3/22 )

According to my SA the parking assistant pro will be available as an add-on that you can buy from connected store. He said that it will be available starting this July and the requirement is that the car already have parking assistant plus.

Oh that’s promising! I will certainly keep an eye out for that. I really hope this is the case - the feature sounds so incredibly convenient (if it works well as advertised).
the Parking Assistant Pro will be supply on CD store as a FOD service with 07/22 OTA

Hi,
I found this article last night
Maneuver Assistant: BMW iX will in future follow the recorded route itself - Techvair
It states that BMW will offer an OTA update to basically upgrade the Parking assist Plus to Pro. (thank God!). Regarding the source of the information,,,the bottom of the article says "received information about this item from BMW during an event organized by the manufacturer in Berchtesgaden".
I
imagine that the update is just delayed-
I started thinking about this too,,,I have the parking assist plus, which can remember and then back up on the last forward path for like 200 yards. I would think that since the plus has the technology to do this already in reverse, the Pro is doing the same going forward, with just the ability to store and save a few sequences. I just can't imagine that the demos showing this tech about 1 year ago on the IX 50 was not already built with the hardware already. As the article seems to state, I think BMW is trying to be able to add new features by way of OTA updates now going forward. Anyway, Im just trying to be hopeful I guess, as I was really expecting these features when I purchased my IX

Thanks for the info! Looking forward to trying it out. I can’t find anything about regions - sometimes this kind of stuff is different based on region because of regulations. Will it be available everywhere? Also I’m curious what the cost will be…

I actually just got off phone with BMW genius and shared the article with him. Although, he could not find anything from an official BMW internal docs about this, he did say that more than likely it will be OTA update. He also confirmed what you said the it might be only avail in Europe first, coming to US at a later time. I will keep looking and let you know
