Screen protector for iX?

1464 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  ck1109
I was looking at getting a protection film for the curved display on my iX, anyone have experiences/recommendations?

I had a matte looking one for my Model Y that helped reduce glare, but I'm open to options:

I found these:

Glass:

Film:

I was leaning towards the film, given the curved nature of the display. Thinking it would be easier to install.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Do you have titanium-tipped fingers or something? lol

I never understood the need for a screen protector inside a vehicle. Are you throwing things at your screen on a regular basis?

I don’t have any protection on the i4 screen but my old 6 series has a scratched gps mate display (non touch) due to car wash cleanings with dirty / wrong cloths.
My 2019 x3 touch display is like new without any protection and the i4 glossy screen seems even more resistant

Not titanium, just lots of people with who knows what on their hands poking at controls, and of course, children. It's one of those "$40 for a screen protector is cheaper than $3k for a new screen assembly" kinda things.

I think the screens on the ix are glass, unlike most vehicles, haven't noticed any scratches on ours yet. With that said, we do have a protector on the plastic touch screen on our other vehicle.
AliExpress has a ton of options for iX, not only for the screen protection, but for the center console and steering wheel buttons as well.
Ya got this:

The touchscreen in the iX is made of anti reflective glass and regarding the "need" for a screen protector, I've been swiping and touching it daily for over 6 months. It's got zero scratches or damage.

I actually applied, then promptly removed the screen protector on my iX. Normally I'm wiling to put up with extra glare, etc, but it was way too much just looking at it on first application. I've found that I tend to use the iDrive wheel anyway, so there aren't many times where I touch the screen anyway.
