HAs anyone checked out both the Sensatec and Leather interiors on th iX? Does the Sensatec feel artificial or plastic in any way or is it very different from Leather? My last couple of cars have had leather interior but if I can find a good alternative I'd like to consider it.

Any options on the Stonegrey Microfiber/Wool Blend while we're at it?

I got my Blue Ridge Mountain iX50 with black Sensatec and am very pleased. This is the only car I've ever gotten that hasn't given me an immediate backache and leg pain lasting for weeks. Probably a combination of the great variations available for positioning the height of the seat, allowable distance backwards, lumbar and, most importantly for me, the bolster positioning that hugs my back just the way I need it to, likely all contribute. No backaches, nothing remotely verging on sciatica, and feeling refreshed on a long drive. I love this car! It's said the Sensatec is slightly firmer than leather but I'm very happy with my choice, and I actually like the looks better than the leather version. I had an oyster-like leather in my last car and hated how grimy every surface would get.

As I just posted in the other thread I started, I had planned for an Oxide Great exterior with the Chestnut leather interior and it looks like my sealer was admirably quick in putting it in.

Any change nowI will mean a re-order, pushing my delivery from March to about August. I think I'll stick with my order.

As it happens, a few days earlier I saw an Oxide Grey metallic iX50 at a traffic light as we were approaching and pointed it out to my wife. I drove up slowly and parked right next to it. Both my wife and I liked it. Their interior seemed black while ours will be Castanea Chestnut leather, which we both prefer. So I guess all is good :).

A BMW owner on another forum had this to say FWIW:

"We currently have a 2019 X3 with SensaTec. I do not yet own a 2022 (on order), but did sit in a Tacora Red SensaTec X3 at a dealership. The 2022 version has a slightly more smooth texture and feels more natural than the 2019. The cushions also seems softer in the 2022 both front and back. It is definitely softer than an a 2021 X4 with leather that I compared side by side.

The SensaTec in our 2019 looks new after 50k miles. It cleans up very easy and is fairly comfortable. The only negatives to me are that it does not look as rich as the leather, less stitching (less interesting) and is less breathable than leather (more likely to sweat). I am hoping the 2022 SensaTec breathes a little better than the 2019 with the perforations, but could not tell with the short time I had sitting on it. It definitely looks nicer and is softer/slightly more comfortable the 2019 equivalent in our current vehicle.

We went ahead and ordered our 2022 with the SensaTec mainly because of how cleanable it is and we like the new red. The real leather definitely looks nicer, but did not outweigh the cleanability and durability factors for us. "
