Car arrived in the LA area on 6/30, then waiting for transport. And on 7/5, BMW issues a stop sale for 2 recalls (air bag and instrument cluster) with no date in sight yet.

I hate waiting even longer, but I suppose that is part of our current Zeitgeist. :rolleyes:

My IX is at the dealership fully prepped for delivery charged and was supposed to be delivered to me this morning, Friday, and I got there to take delivery and was told of the hold, also no estimated software fix dates, this is pretty outrageous to not even give us an idea of when the problems will be solved.

My vehicle is under the same recall in Canada, BMW corporate have been in touch with my SA and the software update/reprogramming will be available from July 28th. So we are in for quite a wait. View attachment 2034
Hopefully this does not change as I don't mind waiting till July 28th to pick my iX up as long as I know there's a concrete fix time and not just a 'oh well we don't how if it will take months to fix'

My info leads me to believe that the cars will be updated at the port then shipped, so that will add to the delay. Would make more sense to ship them now and let the dealers update them. Less chance of more delays due to shipping damage, carrier congestion, etc. But I am not running the logistics show......... (past life)

I just called the BMW genius line and they told me that the car arrived in the Oxnard processing center yesterday, but has a stop sale due to something about the airbag in valet mode and this software thing. The interesting part is she told me the estimated arrival date to the dealer in WA is set for 7/22, though. I wonder if that means the fix is easy, OR if that means they’ll fix it at the dealer.

The interesting part is she told me the estimated arrival date to the dealer in WA is set for 7/22, though. I wonder if that means the fix is easy, OR if that means they’ll fix it at the dealer.
The fix itself is software and will take about 1-2 hours so fairly easy but the issue is they haven’t released the update yet. ETA is July 28th for the update apparently. Not sure if things have changed but my understanding was that all cars will stay put at the VDC till the update is released and then sent to dealers. Hope that has changed, will cut down on waiting

That is good news for you since it won't waste time waiting for update at VDC.

I just called Genius. Micah there told me the software fix was released over the weekend (7/17), and that my iX is in Oxnard, and that a work order to update it is in place however the work has not been done yet. The car is expected to ship from Oxnard to Southern CA on 7/25- on MONDAY.

I just called as well, my genius told me that a work order was opened on July 6th and there was no status update. He didn't know about the release of the software and couldn't tell me anything else. Kinda sucks, but it is what it is.

A couple of forum members on bimmerpost have confirmed that BMW Genius told them the software fix is releasing this Friday the 22nd, so I am going to keep my fingers crossed! Maybe i'll call Genius myself and see what they say!
