Viewed mine briefly at the dealers, I have this option and didn't notice anything different when closing the door

Isn't it supposed to be like the tailgate - if you gently pull the door to a semi-closed position it will the pull itself properly closed?

Do they use some kind of advanced technology or a simple magnetic mechanism for this? I just want to know how these work.

No you can here a motor pull the door closed best to move the door to about 3/4" from closed like on the first catch of a normal car it then draws it in gently

I have them on my Genesis GV 80. They're nice but not life changing.

We have them on our X5, but my wife still slams the doors. I won't be ordering them on the iX.

I've had them on my last couple cars - people still slam the doors but what's nice is you'll never have a door that's not properly closed. It's either closed all the way or not at all - no more reaching over to try to shut a door that an exiting passenger didn't.
