On Sunday, the app and then my car prompted me to update the car software.
This is the second time this has happened and 1st time there were no problems.

On this occasion, I returned to the car a couple of hours later and the car was dead. I couldn't even unlock it.

BMW tech came out and managed to bring it back to life but the screen was flashing with errors. The chap told me there were over 100 errors.

Car was taken away on a truck on Monday. Today (Wednesday) local dealership has called me to say a) they don't know what's wrong with it and b) it may require new parts which are months back order to the UK.

Everyone beware before updating your software!

This was not uncommon with the first OTA updates in the X5, but first I've heard with the iX. Would be helpful to mention the car (year and model), the update version - from what to what, and how it was updated - from your phone or just OTA (sounded like from your phone). One of the reasons the update comes with a warning to park where your car is accessible to a recovery vehicle. And it sounds like it might be related to a bad head unit according to your tech - hardware, not software related. Will be interested to see your final outcome.

Sounds like maybe the TCU, so could be a wait for hardware, although shortages have been easing up of late. Good luck!

Do you have lemon law in the UK? Months wait sounds like a perfect opportunity to lemon the car and order a 2024.

Yup, they’ve delivered me a M3 and will pick it up when my ix gets returned.
