Hi
Picked up my iX40 today.
Was suprised that there were no spotify app installed.
Anyone who knows how to get it?
Works fine over BT from my phone but would really want to have the app as an audio source.

I have an app on the car for spotify (regular spotify and carplay spotify)... the car spotify required some setup so haven't tried it yet
It would be great if someone could make a small video or take pictures showing the sportify app menus, features etc. in the idrive8 system.
There is for sure an app in the car. Maybe you need to choose "View all apps" on the left in the menue?
I scanned the QR code that appears on the screen, and the connection to my Spotify account was instant!

If you don't mind. Could you check if spotify playlists can be sorted like the smartphone app? So you can choose to sort after "recently added", instead of the oldest song on the Playlist being the first song.
By the way, I strongly recommend Apple Music as it offers lossless music. Spotify is still max 320 kbps.

Since we connect the phones through wifi, music data transfer rate is also high. It is also better than Spotify with bluetooth connection.

Hi, I’m sorry to say that as far as I understand, there is no possibility to choose in what order the songs should be listed. Otherwise it functions like the app.
Not sure what data it’s using though, is it the cars or my phones internet that is used? Maybe someone knows?

Thanks for checking. Then it sounds like it's the same as the idrive 7 app. It had the same limitation :(

The build in spotify app runs without any phones needs to be in the car. It runs on the internal Sim card and requires a BMW connected drive subscription.

If you have any pictures of the app running please share as I have yet to see the interface :)

Fantastic! Thanks for taking your time!

The app looks much better and modern compared to idrive7.

And I can say our music taste is quite the same 😉 So happy that Swedish house Mafia is back again 😎
