Thought I’d post my first post in a forum like this ever and layout a current timeline for build, ship, etc. First, I got lucky as I made my decision on the iX 50 to take the plunge into my first EV and happened to be working with a sales associate at our local BMW dealer and truely right place at right time as a customer who ordered long ago pulled out of a deal after he was notified that production was complete. I was able to step into his place and his loss is my gain I guess. Here is what I know and don’t on current timelines.

Order date: unknown as I took the other chaps place
Production complete: 04/28/22
Left Bremerhaven: 05/10/22
Arrived VPC Brunswick GA: 5/25/22

Will post more as dates come and go. My sales associate says plan for 14 days from arrival at VPC til the dealership gets the car and has it ready to deliver … but said he’s seen it range from just 3 or 4 days to 3 or 4 weeks depending on anything wrong with the car, customs, etc. If there is any damage or whatever, that sort of is what it is and probably quite variable on whatever time it takes to get back to production fresh. Apparently customs clearance is generally pretty quick for most cars … customs randomly selects some number vehicles for a full inspection and review and others are more of an abbreviated review. That’s where we are at the moment, could zip through customs or could be a longer and that’s the big driver for the remaining timeline. Once out of customs, we are only a few hundred miles away so the vehicle carrier time should be fairly quick and reasonable I would assume.

Specs:
Alpine White - wasn’t my first choice but not my last choice and beggars can’t be choosers. I can wrap it if I decide I suppose.

Sport package with 21” wheels (not upgraded to 22” which I may do later who knows)

Every other option available except the Luxury Package and Titanium color exterior trim - I personally didn’t care much for the crystal looking knobs and buttons so don’t care about that in the luxury package anyway … may or may not have enjoyed the soft close doors as part of that package. Titanium trim I would have taken or left and would have left it on some color combinations and taken it on others … I would have left it off if I ordered white myself so not disappointed.

If any of this is helpful for anyone out there in the universe then great … I know I was curious and went hunting for current timelines and most I was finding were many months old so thought I’d share a current and ongoing timeline with the internet universe. I’ll post more as it unfolds if folks are interested.

Honestly, while there seems to be not great press on exterior styling of the iX, personally I really like it. The interior is probably the best I have seen in most cars of any cost (even higher than the iX!). And lastly, I was waiting until a stylish EV came out that could reach over 300 miles on a charge. Not to mention I am a tech junkie and the iX has plenty for me to play around with. Being on the bleeding edge of new technology isn't cheap but its fun for me anyway. Just not much of a Tesla fan in the looks department for any of their EV's although I respect what the company has done for EV's as a whole - just don't care for the styling. The only thing else I have seriously considered is the Lyriq but the iX to me is just a better overall fit for what I am looking for (not to mention I got lucky on snagging this particular iX with little wait time 0 which pushed me into a decision as well.

One of my work colleagues has an extended range Audi e-tron but only gets 120 to 150 miles range at 90% charge, he is very unhappy with the performance. I have driven it several times and like most electric cars, is very fast but…….the interior build quality and driving experience, in my opinion, is no where near as nice as the iX which I have test driven 3 times whilst waiting for my delivery end June 22.

Did you by any chance consider the Audi e-tron SUV? I think it's right up there with the iX when it comes to looks. But of course the iX and e-tron offer slightly different flavors of design, the iX is more angular and sporty while the e-tron is softer.

The e-tron is a sharp looking EV for sure but didn’t make my list in the mileage department … I was looking for something with 300+ mile range and the Audi is low 200s. The iX is a little larger as well I think which fits my 6’3” frame a little better.

He obviously has access to more then I do and he must have been notified it’s out of customs or they got a truck delivery schedule or something. So fingers crossed I can pick her up shortly after the holiday weekend maybe!

Lucky you! Like you said, you happened to be at the right place at right time . Mine is a cancelled order as well and I have been waiting for almost a month for delivery - keeping fingers crossed for next week!

I had been driving an etron for three years, my first electric car. Driving wise, the best car I had driven in my life. I has driven almost all luxury brands. But after driving an IX, I totally fell in love with it. Just an amazing experience

I have to admit, this is the first time I've been this excited about a new car in a long time and I can' really explain why. I am in U.S. and had ordered an M-50. A cancellation became available from an earlier order close enough to what I wanted. It is in final inspection phase.

Thank you guys. So my best hopes are the Carmen, leaving today (6/13) for Port Hueneme, then the Cepheus Leader leaving 6/15 for San Diego, then the Tannhauser leaving 6/19 for Port Hueneme. Since my dealer is in San Diego, I'm guessing the Cepheus Leader.
