Hello, first time EV owner here.

I understand that the iX monitors its 12V battery in the background and automatically charges it with its main battery when needed. However it is not very clear whether the vehicle will retain this behavior even when its parked and powered off (I could not find this information on the internet).

I am planning to install a third party dash cam on my iX once I take delivery, and I am curious if the iX will keep supplying power to the 12v battery from its main battery even when the vehicle is powered off, which will allow the dash cam to run in parking mode for extended periods of time.

Hey @clrsky welcome to the forum! I don't that will be an issue with your dash camera. Which camera are you going to use?

Thank you for the reply!

I actually haven’t decided a specific model yet, but my dealer said he could arrange an Advanced Car Eye dashcam to be pre installed on my iX before delivery if I wanted.

However what I’m interested to know is (regardless of dash cam maker) whether iX can support a full time parking mode of dash cam without risking draining or damaging the 12v battery.

Would appreciate any comment on this remark, especially if coming from first hand experience.

The IX will store its video data whenever there is an accident or attempted theft. Obviously that is not as good as the "sentry mode" of Tesla. If you add the recorder to the "fast drop down" menu you can access it pretty fast and hit recording when you want.

Press P for 2 seconds and its starts recording, It records all 4 sides of the car and the videos are huge 450mB for the 4 videos of about 30 sec. You can transfer them to a USB-C Memory drive. It doesn't show GPS position speed etc. but there is an associated file which has data on it but not really looked into it. Qulity not brilliant I could not read a number plate of a car I was following seems a bit dark
