I was told the name of the carrier ship my IX is on By BMW genius. I am located outside of Philadelphia. My ship seems to be bound for Nova Scotia. Using Maritime.com to track. Don’t know if it is going to Nova Scotia first and then to an eastern US port or US port and then on to Nova Scotia or if a different carrier will transport to US port.

Anyone have a similar experience or any insight how to find out.

Assume you mean MarineTraffic.com. Depending on the vessel, it might well stop at other ports leaving Bremerhaven - Belgium for one, but then proceed to Nova Scotia, NJ, Baltimore (Sparrows Point), or Brunswick for example down the East Coast. You car will land at a VDC/customs entry point first (likely NJ or Baltimore if bound for Philly), then be transported by truck or train, or both, to the final destination. The tracking status should change to "at the port" - again - when offloaded at a VDC, then "in transit" - again - once it's on a land transport. And realize the tracker may lag considerably - your car could be in fact at your dealer when the tracker says "in transit."

IF you choose to give us the name of your ship we may be able to offer a more definitive answer...

Boats and planes follow the great circle paths for shortest distance. The more common Mercator projection maps are very deceptive for plotting a course. Believe it or not, Halifax is on the way to the US east coast from northern Europe, so maybe it will stop there first.
