UK IX build and delivery times

Recently placed an order for an IX 40 on the 23/12 last year and got told today by the dealership they expect it could take another month for build slot and then they aren't sure when delivery would be. Has anyone else ordered one recently and got a rough timeline for delivery. I'm due to replace my current car in October so if it's going to be longer than that I'll have to look at my options

@ExE-Tron owner They can't estimate when delivery can be? That's different from my experience. I ordered an iX40 mid August 2022 and the reason I went for it was because the sales guy assured me that it would be about a 2 month wait and he was fairly confident and didn't anticipate any delays. So many other EVs had 1 year or more lead times.

Anyway, I got it in about 9 weeks, so maybe some dealers are more "in tune" with the factory than others?
I was really surprised as well by it because it's the first time I've ever had a dealer tell me they don't know. I avoided ordering another new model E-tron because the wait time for them is quite long and the dealer said there's a risk it would not ship fully spec'd. I was previously only in BMWs and the dealer has proved reliable in the past but it's a bit concerning to be told we don't know what's happening and to check back in a month at the earliest
I ordered mine on July 9th, 2022, it was built on September 26th, 2022, sat at the factory for a month then sat at the port for almost six weeks-arrived December 8th at the port (New York/New Jersey), then picked up on Dec. 19. The only thing the dealer didn't know was the ship, but he found out from the dealer representative for me. 2023 iX50. All I can say it was worth the wait. BTW I traded a 2019 Audi Etron also.
Thanks for the info, I wonder if something has changed with the factorys? I am looking forward to getting an IX my other alternatives were a new E-tron, Model Y but I'm not a fan of Tesla or an EQA/EQC. None of them really have the same appeal as the IX. I'm hoping that I'll hear something a bit earlier than a month so will update when I hear more

Talk to another dealer? There are a lot of second hand ones available too?
I might do that. I had a look at some of the second hand ones as an option but decided just to order one that I could spec myself. I've also asked if any of my spec are the cause for delays although I don't think they should be but if they are I'd rethink taking a second hand one that's close to what I want

there aren’t really that many spec permutations. The spec does severely impact second hand price though from what I’ve seen. Quite a lot available now so maybe some negotiating space. BMWs own fleet up for sale as hitting a year or so for them.
I just placed an order for an M60 and it filled a Feb 23 build slot with delivery expected March/April.
?
I ordered an M50 in early Dec wks too,d could take a while to get a build slot. Last week still hadn’t heard and had changed my mind. I revised the order to an M60. Told it should be built March but still wait g to hear about a build slot.
Yes it seems the U.K. market still has capacity for the M60 - smells like the numbers for that model are down ??

The sweet spot for me would have been a launch spec M50 with the Tech Plus and Comfort Plus packs plus 22” wheels.
I certainly do not require moon roof or tow hitch!

And even though the price of that spec would be similar to the M60 - I’d take the M50 for the extra range.

However, for whatever reason, BMW have removed the possibility for us to purchase such a vehicle.

Weird?

That position will become more unsustainable as competition enters this segment - especially the Merc EQE SUV which I would have gone for but hasn’t been released yet.

BMW??? What are you doing!

surely you want to get MY24 with new idrive etc? You are literally getting the last of the old.
Just curious, is it possible for you folks in the UK to pick up in Deutschland if you wanted to?

This is very true - but I'm getting a fully loaded iX M60 with B&W & +100HP for much less than a IX50 Msport Ed of MY23 spec.
I'm sure Order was a special because the price was special, but as the new iDrive doesnt add 100 miles of range, I'm not that concerned as there is no way I could afford the price of the new MY24 lease?

So after a bit of backwards and forwards with the dealership they said that the factory hasn't released their next batch of build slots for the iX but told me if really wanted there are slots for the ix3 or i4 with earlier delivery dates.

Regarding the move to new Android I-drive v8.5/9, information is sparse at best.
I’ve searched and there’s no mention of any I-drive update on IX MY24 - not even 8.5 which may have the correct hardware which is still?????
The roll out across the BMW model range is very slow but functionality at first will be no more than that of v8 but will diversify as time goes on as the Android version will have the new updates whereas as v8 will be put into “maintenance” mode.

Haven’t got time to dig it up right now but there is some post citing a parts guide which has the current head unit not being a part after March 23 and the newer version being fitted. This won’t be android auto but 8.5 so new climate control screen and apparently better nav display. Tbh it’s all speculation and your good price is probably reflective of the MY transition. I’m planning to pick mine up tomorrow of test drive is ok and it’s one of the earliest cars off the line!
Lucky you!
Hope your buy-off goes well and you can start to enjoy the thrill of EV torque heading into Spring.

I’d be interested to know the “BMW Charge”p/kWh at the 250kW IONITY charge points and how easy it was to register?

I keep reading that it’s 29p/kWh at best and it’s discounted for 1 year unlike in the US where they have unlimited Charges for 2 years FOC and in Australia they get 5 years of 30m charge sessions FOC.
Yet another area we get ripped off on!

Even the IX price here seems mega steep here although i don’t think some countries have big sales tax on cars? E.g. our spec’d up IXs are costing 150k usd and people earn less here!

realised my insurer can’t do online for value of car so might not be picking it up tomorrow now!

@Croddlebopper It's 26 p per kwh with the BMW discount. Setting up is very easy using this link

Ripped off in the UK? I have a different perspective. I worked out that the savings (various tax breaks, almost 90% discount on parking in parts of London, no tolls, fuel savings, maintenance etc) mean that I'm saving more each month running the iX vs driving a petrol/diesel SUV, than the cost of the lease, so effectively, the net cost is zero for me.

My friends in other countries including the USA don't have the same level of EV savings that I'm getting here in the UK.
