US - front license plate

There is no screw holes for a front license plate. Dealer has some tape option which is “permanent” (I’m skeptical), but the location would be right in the middle of that big, beautiful grill.

what are others doing?
I can probably opt for no front plate (illegal in my state) and just temporarily attach it for inspections, but curious if other have found another solution?

You should check with your state DMV many are charging 50 bucks for single licenses plate on the back and small sticker on the windshield that you paid fee for using one plate.

Yep. This....
I think I might try a tow hook license plate frame and remove it post-inspection. Not sure the implications of driving without it, but lets find out.
Also in California, but I just opted for the "Come and get me" option (no front plate install).

Also in CA. Do dealers not just install this as part of vehicle prep? I would have thought they need to make the car “legal” before handing it over.

You can tell them not to and sign a paper saying you Didnt want them to do it.

I’m currently attaching my front plate fully naked using 3M velcro hanging strips on my Audi. Been through car washes and mega rain storms without issue. Fully reversible.

There was a lengthy discussion on another forum regarding the front plate on the iX. It can be attached with screws:

But the default attachment in the US is "permanent" tape. Carefully:

This place sells tow hook license plate mounting brackets for BMWs, but they've told me they won't have one for the iX for 3 or 4 months. If more of us express an interest to buy maybe they'll produce one quicker. Front tow hook mounts are a great way to keep the iX finishing grills pristine. Here's their website: BMW No Drill Front Bumper Tow Hook License Plate Mount Bracket | EOS Plates

This photo shows their mount on an M4.

It looks like I don’t have any tow hook that fits the threads. Even the one the dealer had in the car doesn’t fit.
I purchased this one from EOS. It was designed for X5, but is working just fine for my iX.

I bought the same plate mount from EOS. Here's my photo. Notice 2 things: I have my EzPass mounted at bottom. It's not a Flex pass, but I never carpool anymore. The 2nd thing is the cracks in my finishing grill. New parts are on order from Germany, so it is a good time to install the tow hook mount before the permanent sticky tape is used with the factory front plate mount. I also wanted the cleaner look of the front grill. (Damaged caused by someone backing into me while I was at a full stop. The Drive Recorder video was much appreciated by my insurance company to clear me of any fault. I posted the video on the Drive Recorder thread if you want to see it. )

Looks like it isn’t blocking any sensors in that position, guess I’ll be ordering one also
