Does driving in B mode get you more range than driving in D?

Maybe, because of regenerative braking. Not sure though. I want to find a place to test this.

From what I have read, D is advantageous for coasting. This I think is best for highway driving/downhill. B seems better for frequent driving - where you have to stop a lot.

B loses energy when it is trying to recharge the battery. D avoids the need to recharge the battery.

The most significant impact on range appears to be highway speed - sub-70-ish mph maximizes travel. Over 80 dramatically decreases range, at least according to personal anecdotes.

I did a ride where going I got 3.2 kWh and there was more traffic and coming back less and my total kWh usage was 2.8

@Moesess Set regen in the menu to adaptive and let the car decide. When it comes to EVs, coasting for as long as possible is the most efficient use of energy. Personally, I'm not that bothered about maximising range, I just drive EVs normally, and enjoy them as I would any gas vehicle.

Not sure there is a significant difference
The B is definitely more relaxing for longer commutes

I agree. My experience of "Adaptive" mode is by far the best and closest to what I can call as "Normal" (ICE like) driving and the coasting is simply superb (better than I could get in my X5 - G05)

Adaptive D Mode feels just like ICE car, bit more acceleration/coasting than ICE car. But it is very nice.

I use Adaptive on freeways in Auto Drive, B mode in town.

major issue is Adaptive mode will not actually stop car.

1) [Biggest factor] Keep speed between 40 - 60 mph (depending on wind etc).
2) Minimize braking, even when it is regen braking. Braking with more uniform depth, and braking when battery is warm, will reduce the regen loss.

D with adaptive mode is easiest to maximize coasting, hence optimal range.

It will if you enable brake hold function.
