Well, how is the iX1?

I am a member of the large, dissatisfied Audi Q4 forum.

I know that the iX1 is new but I see no posts for it here in this iX1 forum.

As I am having to consider swapping over to this BMW, I am very interested in the good, the bad and the ugly. Or do I assume that it is so good that nobody finds the need to search out this forum?

Hello, I just received the iX1 as a complement of my iX

Tech wise it's just as good as the iX in a smaller form factor ;)
Ride is bit less confortable and more sporty (seat ans suspension are sportier).
For me it's a very good car and we are super happy with it but I cannot compare with a Q4

The good
Nearly all the tech of bigger brother iX
Good soundproofing
Good handling
Superb interior
Consumption seems to be better than a similar size ID3 (but still worse than a Tesla 3)

The bad
Battery could be bigger
Chassis is so good you want more power ;) (same as for my iX)

Hi Floentm,
And thank you for your reply.

I know the iX1 is new but I was begining to think they had not shipped any.

Otherwise either the iX1:
is perfect - unlikely
owners go back to BMW and they deal with problems in a timely manner - likely
it is pretty good, so owners are not suffieciently motivated to find a forum and complain vociferously - very likely

The Q4 forum posts are in another class!

Can you summarize the issues with the Q4 e-tron? I hd a 2019 and 2021 e-tron prestige and loved both of them. But they are no comparison to the iX which I just got last month. I actually still have a order pending for a Q4 e-tron so I am curious what your issues are with it.
Please note this relates to the iX1 and not the iX.

1. DO NOT BUY a Q4!
2. Switch to the (same) forum but for Q4 Audi Q4 e-tron General Discussion Forum where you can feast in the 15K posts.
3. I found 10 problems in the chaotic first 2 weeks I had it and in the following 8 months ZERO has been done about any of them.

Find my post 'Q4 poor product, nice car' but in short:
There were options that I could have ordered and paid hansomely for, which I didn't know I had to (country specific); like ventilation in the rear!
There were items that should have been included; like domestic outlet charger
And there is the terrible software which could be corrected. But even if they had corrected it and they haven't, it cannot be uploaded over the air (missing hardware due to be installed some year) but requires each car to go into the garage for days.
Added to the complete lack of interest/action by Dealer/Importer/Audi.

Went to BMW dealer yesterday to compare iX1. Having been burnt I am now very cautious. On the face of it, it was the car I expected the Q4 to be - but then I felt that way after my Q4 test drive. Only on delivery did all the faults appear.

There were, ofcourse, things I liked and disliked on both and now I shall have to decided what to do. Biggest downside to Q4 is it isn't working and however disappointing that is, what use is a car that is a pain?

The ix1 is a fantastic car. I have the i4, got the ix1 for the wife. Drives lovely, is very fast, spacious, very well built. I had an ix50 for a day, I prefer the ix1 which is a far more balanced car. It is very different car to the i4 which is a quiet soft hugely efficient motorway cruiser. Hugely enjoyable to drive, quite efficient so the small battery actually makes sense for its intended use. Wife is extremely happy.
Sorry - what is an iX50? I cannot even find it!

This numbering is ridiculously confusing. I was refering to the iX1 xdrive 30!
Hello everyone! I aim to buy the iX1, I hope it will be the first EV that I'll own. I've been dealing with iX1 review videos and cost/finance calculations for 2 weeks. I'll try to ask for delivery times and price offers to compare among different dealers in the Netherlands. However, having the short range scares me a bit. Especially when compared to the cheaper Tesla Model Y Long Range model on 19" wheels (120km/h: 327km), the iX1 on 18" wheels can go 56km less (120km/h: 271km). If anyone experienced this car for a while, comments are welcome.

I love the soul and style of BMW, but I think Tesla takes the lead regarding EV tech such as software and battery technology-wise.
